    weird screen

I am getting this weird screen on my toshiba c640 laptop. Before I go ahead with the dismantle procedure I would like to know what to check so that I don't miss anything.

P.S. I have not tried anything yet, on software or hardware part.

    thanks.

Try with external monitor. That looks like an LVDS problem to me. GPU is possible though.

My guess is panel or lvds cable.

I have tried an external source and it seems to be working fine. Can cable also be the reason? What next?

Remove the screen, make sure battery is removed.
Carefully peel of the adhesive tape from the LVDS cable connector behind the screen, pull the cable out, then reinsert back. Try on, and see you get any difference.

No difference, if possible get a known working condition LED panel, fit it up.

Mostly this is related to panel it self. Faulty panel. But try the above, sometimes the connector do get oxidized and cause erratic issues.

Since you get perfect picture on external monitor, likeliness problem isn't the Intel chip. As dellxps15 said, this chip is hard to breakdown.
Mainly repair laptops, sometimes LCD/LED monitors. Also accepts changing/reballing/reflow BGA job request.

Replace the screen, a new cable will not help.

I only ever saw something like that once before. Funny enough it was also a Toshiba. I never got hold of it physically though, someone just sent me a photo, so I never did find out what was wrong.

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

MacBook Pro A1398 L2013 weird jumping screen.
                          by ahoonid
                          Hey everyone.

I have a 820-3787-06 board from a MBP A1398 which has a screen issue. The problem starts with a bit of noise just like old TVs when booting and when the OS is on, screen jumps are added to the little noise on the screen. The jumps are millisecond and go back to the original place.

Since there's a little crack in the corner of the screen, I thought it has to be the display. But to my surprise it wasn't since I tried it with a fully functioning screen.

The same issue isn't happening with an external display. I did a gpu/cpu stress test on external...

                          by smic717394
                          Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

                          Samsung UE55JU6800K half screen dark
                          by Chrissygizmo
Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
I put the screen back in place & turned it back on . The screen seemed to be ok again but different screens on the same...

Trying To Fix: Samsung UN50TU7000 - Weird Fading Screen then Red blinking light
                          by KYBOSH
                          Picked this up to resurrect.
When I plugged it in it comes on for about 1 minute... after a minute the screen blacks out and I gets blinking red lights on the power button.
I read that a common issue with this model is a failed BGA so I ordered a replacement on eBay.

Sometimes the TV would produce an expanding blob on the screen before going black.

I ordered a replacement board off of eBay and installed it tonight and got the same behavior.
