Has anyone discovered if the M2 LCD works with the M3 board on the 16" I believe these are the same LCD? I know the M1 and M2 work on the 16" but does the 16" M3 LCD work with M2 LCD or M1? Curious if anyone has tried this yet?
MacBook Pro 16" M3 LCD compatibility?

by envymHi everyone!
I have a 2018 MacBook Pro (with Sequoia OS) that I've been using for years with no problem. I recently received an M2 MacBook Pro so I'm mostly using it and not the 2018 one, but since a friend of mine needs a computer, I thought I could restore my 2018 and give it brand-new-like to my friend.

I’ve got a question here!
I have a MacBook Pro A1706 that needs the backlight cable replacement — the well-known issue — but the problem is that the code on my original cable is 821-00571-A, and the one I have on hand to install is 821-01229-A.

ChatGPT replied:Understood — but before you solder or install the 821-01229-A,...11-11-2025, 03:26 PM -
by daltonjr.Hi,
I have a2338 MacBook with one bad CD3217 chip. Are there any compatible chips on aliexpress that actually work? Or only chip from same motherboard can be used?
I remember buying one CD3215 for older 15" model on aliexpress and that one worked.
Thanks! -
by Flasman90I have a 2020 Macbook Pro A2289 and after many attempts managed to get it into DFU mode, using my older 2017 A1706 Macbook Pro (Running Ventura 13.7.8). However, when attempting 'Restore', it fails at step 4 of 4, showing the following error:
- "The operation couldn’t be completed. (AMRestoreErrorDomain error -1 - Failed to handle message type StatusMsg (Generic error)) [AMRestoreErrorDomain – 0xA (10)]
- "The system cannot be restored on this device. Failed to create new state machine for restore [com.apple.MobileDevice.MobileRestore - 0xFB1 (4017)]
