    A2442 hinge sensor has liquid damage, not possible to repair, is there any alternate?

      Previously the fix had been to transplant the IC from the damaged flex to a replacement. However, someone has developed a tool to calibrate replacement angle lid sensors.

      It's 169 euro, but like all good tools, you'll make your money back on that in the first few repairs.

          This is a cool topic. Did not know about this issue till now. From a brief review, concerned about the programming hardware shared on the referenced logi.wiki.

          The ESP8266 Node MCU board IO voltage vs. the lid angle sensor IO voltage. From the schematics, the lid angle sensor IO voltage is 1v8 for the SPI interface.

          The ESP8266 Node MCU IO voltage appears to be 3v3. A proper interface should either operate the IO pins on the ESP8266 @ 1v8 OR apply a voltage level shifter to allow for 3v3 (Node MCU side) to communicate with the lid angle sensor @ 1v8.

          Only if the lid angle sensor Vcc is permitted to operate @ 3v3, then the Node MCU voltage can remain @ 3v3 for the IO voltage.

            The sensor should work fine at 3.3V levels when its I/O domain supply is 3.3V. However, it must not be connected to the main logic board during the operation.

              Got a new victim:

              AcuRite 5 in 1 Iris outdoor weather station not updating the temperature / humidity anymore. The original sensor is a SHT21. Also there are identical other sensor manufacturers. I chose the HTU21D to replace the original SHT21. Both have identical specs. I've had two failure modes with these sensors.
              A: outside temp stuck at -40? It's cold here at times in Canada, but not that cold!
              B: stuck at some temperature and maybe updating once in 12 hrs or so.

              Easy solution is to go to AcuRite website and purchase the sensor. Right?...

              Hi,
              I just replaced the battery on a Google Pixel 5.
              After that the proximity sensor isn't functioning properly any more. It is constantly activated. So when playing a voice message on Whatsapp, the Screen instantly turns off.
              Checking with a sensor app I can verify weird behavior of the sensor. It is triggered when nothing is near and sometimes works correctly when squeezing the phone next to the sensor hole.
              The rubber seal is on again (as mentioned in various suggestions in other forums).

              This smells like a cold or broken solder joint. So I'd like to reflow...

              Hi guys.
              Got a customer MBP 2020 which has a dad of corrosion from condensation, resulted in no power at all.
              I replaced the corroded components and repaired the traces. Restored power and now Iccan get to login screen.

              But when the CPU gets warm (not hot) and fan gradually starts spinning faster and then MBP turns off. Pressing power button turns it back on for couple of seconds then it turns off again.

              Seems sensor related, but it won't even let me get as far as running the built-in ASD.

              I can get back to you later with the components...

              Forgive me this is my first request for help on this forum, so if i've screwed up or not followed the rules i should have i apologise profusely.

              I have a Dell Latitude 5570 that was randomly shutting down, on further investigation i found that the machine had been shutting down due to thermal events as noted by windows event viewer.
              My investigations lead me to the dell diagnostics screen, where i found that there were two sensors out of range which had been causing the shutdowns, one of which was the GPU thermal sensor and the other the ambient sensor.

              Problem

              This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
