macbook pro m3 a2918 - dead
At first it was sent to repair, apparently they only took money. Too bad they did not disconnect the battery, because it was still working. After few month it came to me for a second opinion. I'm no a pro, just friend gave me this.

Does it need to have a working battery to power up? Because i removed battery terminal and measured voltage which was 0 volts. It was liquid damaged, but the board looks OK apart one spot.

That area looks like Power IC chips, I may be wrong since I have yet to get my hand these models. Most likely that area of corrosion is your culprit why it is not working. I would get a Thermal imager handing and see where any shorts may show. These are new so repairs on these may be a little different.sigpic

Again those may be POWER IC chips. Looks like it. I may be wrong. Power IC chips are part of the process for the board to turn on hence POWER. If you have a board schematic (highly doubt it) I may be wrong. But again a THERMAL IMAGER will most likely be your best bet to see if any shorts are showing. Since there may not be any schematics out for these particular boards, a Thermal imager and a donor board is your best option.sigpic

"Fixed". The board was OK. At first i was thinking that the board was faulty, because i was told so.
Faulty angle sensor immediately shuts off mac after brief apple logo and slight bar load. Removed angle sensor and it boots fine.
For the MB to power, you need to ground pins on the board and then plug power adapter. For battery to output power it needs to communicate with MB otherwise it will not output any voltage.
I need to fix angle sensor or maybe i can can use older gen senors, because they look the same apart cable form factor.

require some help on this 820-00281-A macbook motherboard came in dead and the pch bga U1100 (SR2NH), u5000 , Q7056 , U7000 and bios U6100 ,looks like these have been tampered with ..also the battery is swollen..
adapter usb c 20.5v 4.7a 96w , i persume it should power on mb without battery..
update:
when adapter plugged in , power switch which 3.3v on it , when power button pressed both fans come on after 6 secs for about 20secs approx then goes off , nothing on the display stays as blank.. the voltage at the usbc out start from... -

I'm not experienced in diagnostics, but I want to try to solve the problem with your help, because every local shop charges around 600€ (650 usd). Which is the value of the whole Macbook.
The Macbook was charging when suddenly the "charging sound" appeared every other second for around 4-5 times.
After that the Macbook was dead. It isn't charging anymore.

Hi all , thanks for having me & I think this has been asked before but my case seems a bit odd.
I have a MacBook Pro , board 820-2915a and it turns on , chimes etc etc , keyboard lights up, fans spins , can turn caps lock on/off but screen is dead.
Iv tried the resets , shine torch through back logo , nothing , it seems the screen has no power. If I plug charger , it charges but if I disconnect battery it displays green light but won't turn on. Iv tried screen on with another board & it works & seems I'm not getting any voltage at pin 2 , next to ground pin .

I'm working on an A2918 (820-02757) MacBook that has suffered liquid damage. We've replaced the palm rest and cleaned the motherboard, but the trackpad connector has 3-4 broken traces on the top right side.
We need schematics or someone who can help identify where these traces lead. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

My sister purchased an M2 MacBook Air a year and a half ago. While she was using it a week ago, it randomly shut off and no longer powers on. There are no signs of life and not even the MagSafe indicator LED lights up.
We took it to Apple and they disconnected the battery and tried a bunch of stuff before they declared the logic board "brain dead" and quoted us about £567 to replace it. Typical of them...
eBay replacements run about £367 with the Touch ID sensor included.
I did consider to probe the logic board for shorts...
