SMBUS voltages are fine as they are oscillating between 1 and 0s so a typical meter is unable to measure. Will need a logic analyzer to view the I2C traffic commands being sent and received between the devices and the host.

PP1V8_G3S being at 0 volts is of concern. Remove all power. Measure the resistance to ground of PP1V8_G3S.

See attached. U8220 is the loadswitch that enables / disables the PP1V8_G3S power rail.

Carefully, measure the voltage to ground of pin # 2 (P1V8G3S_EN). This is to confirm if the power rail is being enabled or not.

Most likely a damaged T2 in this case. You actually can throw any SPI ROM on these to check DFU conflictions. If the original ROM chip was corrupted/damaged, then that leads me even-more to suspect the T2 in this case. I bet the board is cycling during DFU due to T2 losing communications to/with PMU/U7800, or halting due to a damaged internal DFU/restore voltage (which you guys are onto now). The few times I've found one cycling, it was always the T2 at fault. If no liquid were involved, I'd have a bit higher hopes.

Thanks ugamazing! I was hoping it was not the T2, but seems that you may be correct. I did try to read the voltage to ground of pin #2 at P1V8G3S_EN and it was cycling from 0.00v - 0.01v and that's it. PP1V8_G3S is reading 0.320 when measuring resistance to ground. Is that the last of the testing I can to verify it's the T2?

Power rail is not being enabled or not being enabled mon2. Does this mean T2 is dead?

Macbook Pro A2338 820-02020 Stuck on RESTORE MODE
              by lab10.haifa
Good day, friends. Got this problem with M1 macbook - it starts, chimes, tries to boot and stuck with a message "support.apple.com/mac/restore"
It works with DFU mode, but it's cannot be restored. With "revive" function - same problem. Internal restore mode doesn't work, as well as Internet Recovery.
There is no damage on the motherboard. No short circuits.
Could it be a NAND problem? (but usually, if NAND is dead - mac simply wouldn't turn on)
              Thanks....

Hi everyone - first time poster on here looking to embark on my first repair! Thank you in advance for any help!

My Macbook only turns on when the charger is plugged in and only the trackpad and fans show signs of life. The display, caps lock light and touchbar do not turn on. There was previous liquid damage to the touchbar but after cleaning and drying the laptop was operational for a year without any issues. There doesn't seem to be any sign of liquid damage to the board, at present.

What I have done so far:

              - All of the routine diagnostic methods including...

MacBook Pro A2289 no signs of life except clicking trackpad and charging
              by Woodsworth
              Hi,

I hope this is the correct place to post about this device. I originally posted regarding this on iFixit so see the details from that post below:

"I'm hoping someone can give their opinion on the symptoms I'm seeing before I spend any more time and put money into this. I got this MacBook from a customer and after looking at it they decided they didn't want it.

It doesn't turn on and there's no visual signs of life. I have tried resetting the NVRAM, SMC, power cycling, unplugging the battery, using the charger with the battery unplugged. Removed the...

              Macbook Pro A2289 EMC 3456, MLB 820-1987-A, broken U6903, stuck at 5v
              by modtool
              Dear friends,
a close friend of mine gave me this machine, she told me that the last days the fan was going high and that it was heating up too much for the usual things, and that suddenly one morning it didn't start anymore .
I opened it and inspected carefully with a high magnifying lens, found no oxydized spots but a short on PPBUS_G3H , then a blown U6903.
              I changed U6903 with a new one, PPBUS_G3H became 558 (measuring with red probe to gnd , and black on F7000) , PP3V3_G3H_RTC 463.
Now when I plug the usbc cable (original Apple 61W power supply), nothing starts automatically,...
