Your ACDET voltage is good. Most likely the ACOK signal is attempting to output a logic high but unable to do so due to the missing +3VALW ldo rail.

At this time, do not believe the 2nd mosfet should be on yet it is passing the +19v onto the logic board. However, even with this leakage voltage, the +3VALW is missing and is required.

From where do you plan to purchase the parts for the repair? For sure you need to replace this regulator. Suggest also the dcin mosfets. Each are inexpensive so buy spares.

do you have hot air tools? Flux? Ipa alcohol? Tweezers? Practice on a donor or dead board to remove parts. Then flux and replace the 2nd dcin mosfet.

power up again to check if the new mosfet remains off since gate voltage is too high to be on.

then review location of pin #1 on this square regulator (qfn package = quad flat pack = pins on each of the 4 sides). Flux it well + hot air with low pressure to not lose the other parts. Then lift the part with a gentle nudge of the tweezers. If you rush it or too much heat then the board will burn or the pcb tracks will lift.

Alright, got it! I have all of these tools available. I purchased the buck controller from a shop closer to my location, apparently they get their supply from Mouser. Should I also purchase the exact mosfet or will one from a donor board suffice?

A donor mosfet can work but criteria is as :

        1) same type so p-channel
        2) same size- check the dimensions in the datasheet of each part
        3) same or higher source / drain voltage of 30 volts.
        4) same or higher rated current as the original

All of it will be in the datasheet right? The regulator arrives on Tuesday so see you then!

            19V on gate

If the gate is at the same voltage as the source / drain pins then the mosfet should be OFF. Perhaps this mosfet is defective and needs to be replaced. PQ8 = P-channel mosfet so for this mosfet to enable, the GATE voltage must be LOWER than the source / drain voltages yet there is voltage on each side of the mosfet.
Current is flowing through body diode of MOSFET, as seen by the diode voltage drop from source to drain. Gate not pulled low because ACOK not pulled up because +3.3VALW is missing since 3V/5V regulator has been damaged.
If MOSFET wasn't letting current through without being turned on, there would be no way to power the 3.3V/5V circuit so no way to turn on the MOSFET.

There was no need to work on any of these circuits if the voltages were good, and as always the first thing in a "no display" situation is to clarify if it's "no backlight", "no image" or "no POST" or even "not turning on".

Alright, I replaced the regulator and my ALW lines are back.

Piernov, I'm not trying to just get an answer to my issue and be gone, I want to actually learn how to check circuits.
The issue is that it's not giving image nor backlight. It's not detected by bios nor OS, and we already established that it's an issue with the motherboard not the LCD screen.

Is it possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue meter?
                by chth96
I read EBOOK of Testing Electronic Component and found that

"In order to test the small blue resin coated ceramic disk capacitor which has 104 50v specification,it is possible to test this small ceramic capacitor by making use of analogue meter.
Set to times 10Kohm that has 12v output from the probe to check disorder of ceramic capacitor.
It is not uncommon that testing result of digital capacitance meter is okay,But It show shorted reading when you check it with analogue meter."

Is it really possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue...

Modification of a Fluke multi meter that uses three AA batteries to use a 14500 lithium ion battery
                by sam_sam_sam
I have had with regular AA batteries that leak this meter is expensive new I already replaced the battery battery clips once and the same thing happened again and I am tried of so it is getting modified to accommodate lithium ion batteries that are the same size excluding the positive terminal and removing the battery clips I will have enough room for the BMS protection board

I going to put 3 lithium ion battery in parallel with the BMS protection board and a way to charge the battery externally and heat shrink the battery pack and use a JST connector so I easily remove the battery...

Changing the scale of an analog meter
                by jorpec
                Hi

I want to change the scale of an analog meter, to monitor the charge of an li-ion single cell, so the needle at the end would point 4.2 volts and the 0 on the meter would point 2.5 volts or so, i tried to add diodes or a zener in series with the meter but the changes of the ambient temperature also changes the voltage value on the meter
I wonder how i can accomplish this so the meter would be precise at any temperature ?

How an incandescent light and a ESR meter ** friend**have a machine blowing fuses
                by sam_sam_sam
About a month ago we had a transformer jumper wire that burned in two different places between two transformers caused over $200 thousand dollars worth of damage to VFD drives at least 10 of them and a memory card and quite a few power supply as well

Now we have most of the equipment that got damaged back up and running except a feeder that has issues and we are waiting for some parts for

Now we also have another piece of equipment that was blowing fuses on the 110 volt controller switch circuit with the “E” stops and one switching power (24 volt) supply and a transformer...

Apple 820-3662 VCore shorted to ground.
                by barry101
                Hi, Would appreciate some help.
I have an Apple Late 2013 15" A1398 MacBook Pro with Logic Board 820-3662.
Get charger light but no fan spin or chime. No liquid damage.
Found PPBUS and VCORE both shorted to ground. Other rails were ok.
Removed VCORE MOSFETS U7310, U7320 and U7330. Found U7330 was in fact shorted.
With the 3 MOSFETS removed, get PPBUS and fan spin. VCORE is still hard shorted to ground (0 ohms).
Attempted voltage insertion on VCORE to locate short using bench supply set at 1.0 VDC and 4.95 Amps (max current for my...
