    Asus X53U: Instantly Cuts Off

Yet another laptop that cuts off as the power button is pressed.

When you press the power button, its led is lit and after 2-3 seconds the laptop cuts out. Same issue with and without battery. Also same issue when the MM is out of the laptop's housing. Any tips on where to look?

Just did a reball of the gpu and same issue. Just though a ball maybe grounding as this sort of issue is the same with most hp I have worked with. But wondering if the cpu needs reballing.

Are you asking for coil replacement?
How many ohms can you measure between coils and GND?

you need a ringer to test these for shorts.your ohmmeter will not spot 1 shorted turn.

Many thanks for your support. How to locate these Ringer Testers? Any brand names?

testing for shorts with reference to ground, does not mean a coil is shorted. 14 ohms is not shorted for me. you can isolate those coils from mobo, to determine which side of the coil has short. someone told me capacitors near the coils are the most common parts to fail. i see electrolytic caps, make some tests.

I have done another test. This cap beside the coil in red:

...that tested at a very microfarad, 11uf; while others, same, are 200+uf. Could that be an issue?

I have removed the cap beside this coil. However, I get a short to ground on both sides of this coil. Does this means the coil is bad?

Ok but I have never bought those coils before. Searching with the number on the coils give me no information.

Nope. You need to remove the coil to determine which side of the pads has the short.

if one side is shorted to ground, check the parts connected to that line.
removing each part at a time and testing to ground after each removal. just remember to put back parts on the same spot and in correct orientation.

Thanks! Good tip. Based on the schematic, PL202 (pin 2) is connected to the cap (PC218) and +APU_CORE_NB. The cap was removed and same thing. What is this "+APU_CORE_NB"?

Yes. While coil is off, pin 2 is short, that's the same connection (pin) where the +caps is on.

                                      See image PL202 and PC218:

Also short is the cap's - and +. (Cap is removed)

Intermittent Power Issue on Asus X553MA – CPU Voltage Drops ftom 0.89V to 0V

                                          Hello,
I have a problem with an Asus X553MA motherboard. Sometimes the system works fine, but other times the CPU voltage drops to 0V. In most cases, the laptop reboots after a few seconds due to the voltage drop.
Occasionally, it shows the ASUS logo or boots into the BIOS. Sometimes it can stay in the BIOS for hours without issue.
I checked the board with a thermal camera, but I couldn't find any overheating or leaking capacitors.
Unfortunately, I don’t have access to the schematic.
It seems to me that when I bend the board, something changes.
                                          Could this...

                                          Hi everyone,

I'm having a serious issue with my ASUS Zephyrus GA401I (4 years old, worked perfectly until recently). The system is lagging heavily, even in the BIOS, and is charging extremely slowly (a few percent in hours), making it nearly unusable. I suspect a motherboard or power delivery issue.

                                          Symptoms:
                                          • Severe lag across the system, including BIOS navigation.
                                          • Slow boot times and unresponsive performance in Windows.
                                          • Battery charges very slowly (e.g., ~5% in 2–3 hours).
                                          • No error messages or BSODs, just extreme sluggishness.

                                          What I've Tried:
                                          • Replaced
                                          ...

Asus F1502Z BIOS issue? CPU gets hot but no other response. No blinking light

Hey guys, I got this model which stays black screen but CPU heats up. All voltages on board seems oK.
                                          Perhaps BIOS issue?

                                          Brand: Asus
                                          Model: F1502Z
                                          SN: R4N0CV11S622169
                                          Board: X1403ZA 2.2

I have flashed this BIOS for test purposes and it lights up the ASUS but blank SN. https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...21#post3593121

Can you clean and enter SN for me please....

ASUS PRIME B450 PLUS (rev 1.02) USB Overcurrent issue
                                          by ezenia
                                          Hello,

So I bought a faulty ASUS PRIME B450 PLUS motherboard off eBay. They said it was water damaged and they cleaned it. The PC POSTs and displays a message that it's detected USB overcurrent and will shut off in 15 seconds. I verified this myself. So I did some checks at the ATX connector 1st to see if the resistance readings looked OK. I found the 3.3V rail measures just 179Ohms which seems way too low. It's been much higher on other AM4 boards I've worked on.

So I did some Googling to see what the potential culprits are. It varies from bad protection diodes, bad...
