Dell XPS M1330 Still won't charge battery

Hi all, I just spent several hours last night disassembling and replacing the DC Jack on this Dell Laptop, I did a close to perfect soldering job when installing the new jack, got it all put back together and it still Will Not charge the battery.

The charger is putting out the voltage, blue light on it is on. The battery is new, my Stepson (this is his laptop) got a new one thinking it was the old battery was bad but that wasn't the problem. I wonder if there's a small fuse in the charging circuit somewhere on the motherboard, or a way to fix this.

Does anyone know of a solution other than replacing the motherboard? your help and replies are very much appreciated.

Are you using a real dell powerpack- check if the laptop is running at its full rate. If the centre "Recognition "pin isnt connecting correctly it wont charge and it wont run at full speed.

Yes it is a real Dell Powerpack, it will not even stay powered on now because the battery is critically low and I have no other way to charge it. It will not stay powered on even with the power pack connected to it. I think it's a fault with the motherboard charging circuit. Thanks

Post a good clear picture of the area of the motherboard around the connector.

I Fixed it!!! Yeah...Pulled motherboard out again and plugged in Powerpack, measured 19 volts at DC Jack Connector and followed to L31 had voltage on one side only, after a close inspection I saw a flaw where L31 solders to pads on motherboard.

re-soldered both ends of it, measured voltage again and I had the 19 volts on both sides, I put the laptop back together and now it's working again and charging the battery. Phew what a job.

I hope someone else can benefit from this, it saves them from having to replace the motherboard, I did find some info on this here at this site, the guy at the bottom of the page had the same Model Dell with the same exact problem.

This is a poor quality picture but its the corner of the motherboard with the DC Jack removed, if you look just to the upper right of the IC Chip you will see a black surface mounted device that looks similar to a resistor, that is L31 and the bad solder connection was on the side closest to the jack but I re-soldered both sides.

I do think it is a coil since it is labeled as "L" meaning coil.

                              Hello,

YouTube video of the problem encountered: https://youtube.com/shorts/q7TLNv36LUo

I am a pro and I have a problem that I have never seen despite my 7.5 years of experience on my own and my thousands of repairs, on a customer's Dell G3 15 3500.

On this PC I have already changed the complete palmrest because the keyboard was no longer working properly.

I also changed the screen because the PC fell and the screen was broken.

I changed the battery with a new and original battery.

I also had corrosion/oxidation on the...

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
                              by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

How can I charge that battery pack?
                              by razenxd
                              Hello,
it's not a laptop/desktop related question but I figured that someone here will have the right knowledge.
At work we use a few Aldebaran(now Softbank/United Robotics group) Nao Robots which they use some custom 6S li-on battery packs.
Nao robots tends to draw from the battery even if they are shut down, and the BMS tends to be a little aggresive, if the pack stays on a turned off robot for 3 months it's gonna lock and will refuse to charge.

Now, I have noticed a few things.
The "dead" battery, while connected to charger and NOT Charging will...
