If you already have the electronic qualifications the man is very good and knows what he is talking about as an engineer I can follow what he is teaching even though English is not his first language I have learnt alot from the free videos on youtube if I was starting in laptop repair I would use his course.

            Thanks

I just need to know the best methods, Im not familiar with the different pin functions or what I should be chasing in a given circuit apart from the obvious blown chip. Currently Im wasting too much time going round in circles and removing and replacing components to see what V changes I get.

I have watched some of his videos on youtube and I can understand him fine most of the time. I was just curious if the videos you buy are the same as whats on you tube and also if they are in English also if you get support after buying.

The schematics he uses seem to be Hp Im working on a couple of Acers right now and some of the signals he mentions are not in the schematic or are but named different.

I have emailed him a few days ago and got no reply.

Sorry for the long winded mail.

he teaches the important signals we should check in sequence. teach you how to read schematics. section by section. what to check if given fault is present.

i haven't bought the videos he is selling. i think they would be the same on what he taught online. the difference is that no interaction with him if videos.

student should already know basic electronics. testing voltages and electronic parts.
if i am going to rate him it would be 8/10

he does give after sales support if enrolled.
just one thing he promised to give me but never received it till now.

@ffdizon you said earlier you watch his videos on youtube, did you do online classes with him as well?.

I got a reply and they said theres 52 videos but they dont say if you get access to all videos for the price and aslo if they are in english. Getting an answer from them is like pulling teeth.

Garmin dog training collar.ID help with SMD, Please?
                      by Macroman
I have several boards like this from my buddy...The boards are out of training collars for hunting dogs. Powered by 3.6V Li-ion, 2750mAh, 9.9Wh battery. This components are related to the audible tone and shock functions of these collars... and all have these same SMD components that are bad. All the boards have 2 of these (as shown in the 2nd image) and the related functions of the units are non-working on the boards with the damaged SMD's. They have only C on them.

Does anyone here know how to find out what this component is and where to get it.. if it is available??

Opinions on particular soldering iron tip maintenance product
                      by kalemaroni
Has anybody tested this product? Posting this question on a Facebook tech group I'm in got a few responses like "that kind of thing corrodes the tips" and "just using normal solder paste is much better" so I'm not looking for generic responses like that, but rather, does anybody know for certain whether this exact product is good or bad for soldering iron tips?

Opinions/Advice on Do/Should I replace ALL Electrolytic Capacitors on old equipment?
                      by RetroComputingGrotto
I've just been repairing some (very) old speakers with a loud hum that occurred as soon as you powered them on regardless if any actual audio is played through them. I work in a School so it's 99% likey that the Teachers have hardly ever turned the power off on them for well over 10+ years.

As you can see the top large capacitor on the right has a bulge on the top so defincately needs replacing. As the one next to it is exactly the same capacity and voltage I planned to replace them both.

What is your advice/opinion on whether or not on old(er)...

KDM 480W PSU upgrade succes! (opinions?)
                      by bauto601
Back in 2020 i bought a (2nd hand) compact ATX psu to replace my current one. My PC case only fits very short ATX power supplies so i didn't really have the choice of buying a decent 80Plus unit. The current unit is a modded YoungYear unit that i made a thread about a while ago:
A "nice" YoungYear unit? - Badcaps

The "new" unit is a KDM-M6480 480W psu, the 480W number is a typical KDM bullshit claim of course, but the 24A rating on the 12V rail seemed reasonable and the "Active PFC" claim gave me a bit of hope that this was going to be decent-ish....

Hot air station - 858D opinions?
                      by Gregtheone
                      Hello guys!

I would like to ask your opinion on the hot air station Atten 858D or even 868D (there are many other producers of this very same product like W.E.R and so on).

                      Rough specifics:
                      Power consumption: 700W
                      Airflow: 120L/m (max)
                      Temperature range: 100-450 celsius

I would want to remove and resolder the RAM BGA chips of a graphics card and I was wondering if it is plausible with a 858D (or 868D) or not? I have heard others say, that for a RAM sized BGA it is better to use a stronger hot air station, but I was wondering if...
