MacBook Pro 2008 no power after reball

    Hi,
I had this problem many times, and i never resolved the problem.
So as you would know this series of macbooks have a huge problem with graphics (G84-602-A2), and the reball would fix the problem. So, i did a reball on the board for the THIRD time and now it just doesn't respond to the power button.
Has anybody had the same problem?

Could be that you fried the GPU.

Consider buying another one and simply attaching it.

Also, since the NB and CPU are pretty much attached to the motherboard, there's a possibility those have come loose after all those re-balls.

      Just a thought.

Measure the resistance across the capacitors on the GPU after lifting and if you get absolute zeros on any of the them then the GPU is definitely fried and like thesloc said consider buying another one and simply attach it.

I have couple od GPUs already, buy them before, since this MacBooks are prone to GPU cold joints.
So i tried with 3 GPU-a, reballed again and again on couple of MacBooks, even reballed the northbridge, southbridge and the CPU. Yesterday reballed KBC....

bad memory perhaps? try swapping it out just in case.

Tried RAM preplacement, although with bad RAM the laptop should turn on

Cmon, somebody should know about this error!

i hate macs but i will post for general laptops with no power after reworking

if it had power then there is a 99% chance that you have a bridge or short underneath the bga or the chip is dead

if the laptop does have dedicated video you can remove the gpu and test it should still have power

but i have no idea about macs proprietary pos

General question about MacBook power rails for repair.
                      by SarcasticOP
I am looking at an A2337 and found this for the order of power rails and what they do. Can this be confirmed before I dive into hunting down power rails that do not exist or are not neccisary?
                      • PPBUS_G3H (12.6V-12.8V)
                        • This is the main power rail that supplies power to the entire system. Check this rail first, as it must be present for other power rails to work.
                      • PP3V42_G3H (3.42V)
                        • This power rail is derived from PPBUS_G3H and is used to power the SMC (System Management Controller) and other essential circuits. It should be present if PPBUS_G3H is working correctly.

                      by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
                      by PantherDave
                      Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                      Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74 power issue

                      Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

LG 42LB5D (42LB5DF-UL) from 2008-01, unit is in good shape and no obvious heat damage or cracked solder on the boards.

                      Problem:
On first power-up the power LED flashes green about 18x and then stays solid. No backlight or image is present. Click power button, wait 10s for a click and the LED turns red. Wait 1-2s and hit power again and maybe it'll power up fully after 6 green flashes. If it doesn't light up on the sixth flash then the cycle repeats.

It seems that if the mainboard power is left on for a few minutes (solid green power, no backlight, no image)...
