    Identifying Component Help needed

    Hi
Can anyone confirm for me that this is a power inductor ? It has the markings PF 7R0.
(see pic) Its the one directly behind dc jack PF 7R0

Whats baffling me is the markings. Shouldn't it have a rating in henrys not resistance ?
The component had melted onto the board, So there was nothing left to identify the chip or test. I've managed to get a picture of the board [Fujitsu Siemens Amillo Pro LM7W+] with the chip needed.
Any help identifying the chips role (ie resistor or inductor), rating and part number would be great
    thanks
    Dave

The pictures are way out of focus, if you look at it side view, can you see wire wrapping around the body? It is more likely to be 7uH inductor.

The markings are worn off. From what i can make out ?13 the first letter could be a L13 which would make it an inductor right. But in that case shouldn't the chip markings be 7uH opposed to pf 7R0 ?
If it is a inductor 7uH do you know of a part No or compatable one it has 4 contact pads & is about 3mm in size ?
Any help would be great thanks
        Thanks Dave

Sorry about pictures they were a picture of a picture which was taken with a low res camera tried to get as clear has possible.
On my board the chip had destroyed its self so was only left with bits rattling around the case the rest was a blob melted to the board. I'm pretty sure there where bits of wire in the debrie though ? You could be right. I just don't get the markings (PF 7R0)

quite a common problem this may help identify it

So it is definitely an inductor and it is 7uh see attached

The cooper-bussman states that the R is a decimal point

I think othe examples only have two pad connectors

There are lots of them 10mm square but struggling with 3mm or 4mm

on the pcb around the blown part, is there any other part, with marking and connected directly or after another component? in the schematic i have, there is no such component marking with PF 7R0.

might also be worth checking the capacitor mentioned in the link in case its short circuit? causing this inductor to fail.

Added better pic 3 you can see it needs 4 pads

ok I think it may have been a YM750635-3 made by Yosonic
                                see

page 107/8 No actual reference to YM750635-3 so it may have been a proprietary part made to order.

It is just a double coil choke so the laptop could be made to power simply by putting two links in.

As this part was burnt you should check that there is no short when testing the pads.

Still no joy in tracking a replacement.
