Need u'r opinion about ESR , should we have it?

I have reading on few forum and blog that sometimes suggest us to test the cap with ESR, so i'm just curious about ESR meter. As my hobby to repair in computer ( mainly laptop ) do we must have a ESR or not? Sometimes i want to have it , but i'm just curious is it help us more better or not ? when we do repair or troubleshoot ? Pls give your opinion about this because i know, a lot of experiences member in here that have been using ESR ( I guess )

PS:
Maybe this is stupid question but i need you opinion, ( i don't have and never try this instrument, who knows i'll buy it after read opinion from you )

hi,

i bought one (BLUE ESR Meter) but i don't find it useful yet in repairing laptop motherboard.
technician who recommends it, it is most useful in testing electrolytic capacitors.

To me, I use ESR meter to confirm that the cap is bad or not. You can replace the cap and if it fix the problem, then you move on, but for me I would like to know why the caps the I removed has correct capacitance but they do not work. It is just another tool. I built one, I l also have LC-75.

are you referring laptop repair?
laptops doesn't have much electrolytic capacitors. mostly ceramics and tantalum.

or maybe i'm wrong and someone will correct me and share how to use effectively this ESR meter in testing ceramics and tantalum capacitors.

I think it is a waste of money. If you have oscilloscope you can buy a component tester device to measure the quality of the ele.cap. and it works fine.

i do repairing laptop, PC just a little. Conclusion to me, i don't need yet maybe someday
