Acer aspire 5742z no power / dead

Hi. I need help with acer aspire 5742z Laptop has no power an is complete dead, no lights no nothing.

I got picture of power (I think) part on motherboard if help.
What element could be damaged ?

Try checking the inductors? Its the square big blocks, they might of fallen off.

Trace from the power input and see where the voltage disappears. With it plugged in, you should at least have the standby voltages.

pastikan tegangan 3,3volt always on ada. cek bios ecc ada tegangan 3,3volt. pastikan di power bottom ada tegangan yg masuk. bila ketiga sarat tadi ada tp belum bisa nyala kemungkinan rusak di bios ecc. anda harus memrogram kembali menggunakan eeprom programer.

Did you eliminate the obvious:
1. test power supply for stable 19V output
2. make sure you have 19 input at the connector (plug it in the MB and test the solders that are on the motherboard)

Capacitor PC343 (far right, big electrolyte one) looks bulged on the pic. Perhaps it's shortened?
Just a thought.

I also have a prejudice that does not turn on acer 5742z I checked the 19v input on the motherboard and then I measured are compared to ground the battery terminals do not get anything out I did a further test by controlling the condenser and is good pc343 .
can someone help me

check first standby powe 3.3 and 5 volt. you can check it in L

somebody help i have the same problem the acer aspire 5742 that im repairing is no power..i check the voltage in the out put charger ok..if the battery is connected the orange light is present but when you remove the bat nothing is light on..

For Acer 5742Z the motherboard is LA-6582P i guess if yes then Check 19 Volts PR351 (its shunt resistor) If no voltage present you need to check the charger controller IC ISL6251A (pins to check 24.DCIN, 8.VREF, 2.ACDET) if DCIN is OK and no other voltages present you need to check FET's PQ51,52. Also post what is the current pull up when connected to power source. Cheers

VERY WELL SAID....

I got the same problem with this system, a client brought it for repair about 7months ago. i couldnt fix it so advice him to swap it with another system from me. it has been lying around untill i got some time so work on it. I read a post about ISL6251A being dead, so i changed it with another one from DV6 mother board (you can also get the IC from CQ series). it came back to life and everything works except charging.

It wont charge the battery despite the fact that it shows charging indicator on windoes and the ambar light. when i remove charges it works well on battery. so the only problem is CHARGING.

i dont know if anybody have an idea wath the problem might be. the only thing i can guess is that, i might have not solder the IC very well, maybe the pin that suppose to enable/send current to battery is not well solder.

i measured the voltages of pq53 pin 1,2,3,4 is 19v while pin 5,6,7,8 is only 0.6v?

how can i know that the voltges is correct?

pin 4 its the gate and it got 19v?
take it down and test it diode mode.
