    hp dv5-1000 / 482870-001

    Hello,
the problem is driving me crazy; lcd panel does nt show splash screen of bios, works only when enter in svga mode, but screen dimension is approx 1/3 of panel, external monitor works as expected.

Done reflow on the nvidia gpu, still defect; what do you thing graphic chip is dead? or could check something other on the board?.

    Thanks.

If external monitor works ok GPU is ok, screen is faulty.

Sorry, forgot to say that already tested with another panel and inverter: same result.

Then you have some driver circuitry bad between the GPU and screen. Not worth fixing. Time for a new board.

              No...

DV5000 was Puma platform, or Radeon 3xxx IGP. A very good platform. There are reports of some of these needing reflowing, but no failures outright

The only chip so far that I have never seen that needed reflowing is the Intel GMA 3000 and 4500, and the ones with the GPU on the CPU should be even less susceptible.

I wonder if Llano will also be GPU on the CPU die.

They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."
