Need help with a black macbook

Okay, well I got this (mid 2007) macbook in, the symptoms are that the system would turn on and start to load the OS the apple logo would appear and the system would pong on the startup, then it would reboot. I was thinking it was the hard drive or the ram, but after further inspection I found that the sleep indicator light does not work and the system would not see any bootable USB drives. I reset the SMC, and PRAM, disconnected the PRAM battery and discharged the board. I pulled the hard drive, airport card, disconnected the hard drive cable, isight cable, using a test ac adapter, test battery, and test ram, test hard drive with an OS still no luck. I have also removed the top case and just shorted out the power pins on the board to see if the top case was preventing boot. I was thinking that it could be a thermal issues so I replaced the heatsink, fan and thermal sensors, still no luck. The system will boot to single user mode and it will boot to the EFI diag on the ASD and it will pass all the tests I ran the 24hr loop on the ASD EFI, however it will not boot to the OS diag on the ASD. It will not boot to Disk Warrior, Techtool 4, or any OS install disc. If I boot off the hard drive in verbose mode it will reboot at no specific spot in the boot sequence, and if I boot from a diag disc in verbose mode it will make it all the way through verbose then hang at a blue screen with the curser. I was thinking that maybe the firmware got corrupted so I made a firmware restore disc, but the system will not go into firmware recovery mode by holding the power button for 5 seconds, it will make a long tone then pong. So since the system will not effectively boot any GUI I was thinking it was a voltage issue, I checked the voltage on the board and found no fluctuations and I have checked the majority of the capacitors with my ESR tester nothing apparently bad. So I'm thinking a video issue, without the LCD attached I used an external monitor and I got no video, the system should default to the external without the LCD. I pulled the board and solid reflow the Northbridge, still no change. I'm sorry for the long post, but I am at my wits end with this computer. Please I need some help on this or any ideas?

sounds like a firmware too corrupt to be savable.

i doubt the firmware chips are replaceable w/o smd desoldering and even so, if they were smd, good luck finding a new chip (unless you had a custom flasher).

I have a donor board, I can replace the EFI chip if you think that is what it is. I am very good at replacing surface mount ICs, I just don't know what to do at this point. Thanks for your reply, I don't want to give up on this project, I need to figure this out.

[Macbook pro A1708] [Boot loop] [Trackpad ?]
        by No Lan
        Hey everyone,

Usually, I'm not the type to ask for help, but this time, I'm calling on your wisdom and expertise I've seen what this community can do, so I'm pretty sure you guys can help me out.

Here's the deal: I noticed my MacBook got stuck in a boot loop. After opening it up and doing some initial troubleshooting, I found that the boot loop stops only when the trackpad is unplugged.

Now, just so you know, the trackpad actually works — I tested it with another motherboard and it's all good. Same for the cable, no issues there. The problem is only...

Macbook Pro mid 2015 battery required to boot?
        by twonk9098
I have read many forums that state the Macbook Pro 2015 needs / does not need a battery to boot. I'm not convinced as yet which is correct.
The Macbook Pro mid 2015 I have has no battery and do not really want to buy one just to test.
This model has the newer trackpad which is not clickable when turned off.
At the moment, without battery it does turn on with no display (with backlight), no chime and then turns off after 13 seconds. I see this from the power draw on my DTPS.
If I hold the power button whilst connecting the magsafe 2 charger it turns on, again no image but...

Macbook A2442 820-02098 boot and display issue
        by veedo
        Hi All
I have MacBook A2442 which had keyboard replaced and now it doesn't turn on correctly, it have sound chime from time to time and Apple logo shows on the display and there is no backlight on, apple logo appear and stuck on kind of boot loop. But if one of the display flexes is disconnected from the motherboard then MacBook turns of fine with the external monitor and it keeps working fine.
Without keyboard its still have same issue, I don't have second display to replace it and compare but does display can make issues with boot?

        Macbook A2251 no boot
        by PITERPENY
The MacBook does not boot. It is restored via DFU without errors. The MacBook charges and consumes 20V/2A. There is no sound when connecting the charger. The caps lock does not light up, but the touchpad clicks. The fans do not rotate. No signs of life. Please advise.

MacBook Pro A2289 (820-01987-A) No boot/image, but boots to DFU
        by baglaivlad
Hi everyone. Just a reminder I am not a professional repair technician, fixing Apple electronics is my hobby.

Recently got my hands on MacBook Pro A2289 with interesting behavior. Pristine condition, no water damage, no visual issues whatsoever. It has no image, no CapsLock, no life except the fan is spinning. But it is able to boot into DFU and recognized by another MacBook. I tried to revive and restore the laptop, but the process ends when the MacBook usually should show an Apple logo with a progress bar. I assume the main power lines and T2 are working. It seems like the Intel...
