Hi masters, I have this machine on bench, came with not working keyboard and trackpad. I found shorted can on trackpad power line. So I solved it, keyboard and trackpad start working, but now FANs run at full speed and MAC is very very slow, cant reinstall iOS either...
Do you have any sugestion what can be the culprit? I tried new trackpad, but the same issue.
I double checket battery data line cable and there is good continuity too.
Many thanks for any tips.Comment

Confirm that these lines are not @ 1v8 like the others?I2C_SNS1_S0_SCL - 1,6V
I2C_SNS1_S0_SDA - 1,6V
Remove all power. Meter in diode mode. Red meter probe to ground; black meter probe to:
I2C_SNS1_S0_SCL ; what is the diode mode reading?
I2C_SNS1_S0_SDA ; what is the diode mode reading?Comment

To me it sounds lower than the norm. Someone is pulling these lines down. Not sure if it impacts the raised fault but the default parked voltage should be 1v8. Sure - disconnect what you can and attempt to test this line again.
There appears to be only thermal sensors on this dedicated SMBUS network.

I've returned to this macbook and 3 ports are working 20V ... One port was taking only 5V and 0,2A
I've tried to replace CD3215 for this port 3x and still the same issue ... but now it's not turning on ampmeter on this port at all, on other ports still 20V but macbook doesn't turn on (no chime, anything)
I found out that i can't measure resistance to ground on PP20V_USBC_TA_VBUS (on other port's i'm getting correct value) here it's only trying my multimeter is no able to get value ...
I tried to remove everything from that line PP20V_USBC_TA_VBUS
QB300 - result the same
FB200 - result the same
DB501 - result the same
DB500 - result the same
CB510 - result the same
CB511 - result the same
CB301 - result the same
UB300 - result the same
any idea ?Last edited by obelix24; 03-04-2024, 01:40 AM.Comment

by MullySculderHey folks, I'm working a 2018 13" Macbook Pro that I can't get to install an OS on.
This was given to me by a friend who told me I could have it, if I fixed it.
I've noticed a couple of dents on the laptop case and the touch bar doesn't have any activity lights when first turning on. When I boot up the machine, it gives a folder with a question mark. When I do eventually get to internet recovery with High Sierra, I can go to Disk Utility but I'll get errors when I try to erase the 512GB SSD. First Aid comes back with no issues. But if you linger too long on anything,...07-10-2024, 02:17 AM -
by Nikan.eHello everyone.
I have recently obtained a MacBook Pro A1989 model with a touch bar and Apple ID. Unfortunately, it does not want to start up.
No CPU Voltage.
U7800 Does produce voltages.
T2 Chip warming up very very little.
I do have voltages like 1.8, 0.9, 3.3, 2.5 volts, etc., present. I did not find any short circuits. Unfortunately, the device has no touch ID/start button. So, I have used the debug jumper to put the device into DFU mode. - It is getting recognized as a Macintosh while not in DFU mode and as Apple (DFU) while in DFU mode....11-24-2023, 11:55 PM -
by No LanHey everyone,
Usually, I'm not the type to ask for help, but this time, I'm calling on your wisdom and expertise
I've seen what this community can do, so I'm pretty sure you guys can help me out.
Here's the deal: I noticed my MacBook got stuck in a boot loop. After opening it up and doing some initial troubleshooting, I found that the boot loop stops only when the trackpad is unplugged.
Now, just so you know, the trackpad actually works — I tested it with another motherboard and it's all good. Same for the cable, no issues there. The problem is only... -
by twonk9098I have read many forums that state the Macbook Pro 2015 needs / does not need a battery to boot. I'm not convinced as yet which is correct.
The Macbook Pro mid 2015 I have has no battery and do not really want to buy one just to test.
This model has the newer trackpad which is not clickable when turned off.
At the moment, without battery it does turn on with no display (with backlight), no chime and then turns off after 13 seconds. I see this from the power draw on my DTPS.
If I hold the power button whilst connecting the magsafe 2 charger it turns on, again no image but... -
by MyronViegasHey guys,
I got a MacBook Pro a1989 820-00850-A dead for repair. The MacBook itself was off for a month or so and it didn't power on. I tested using ammeter and it was stuck on 5v. Opened the machine and found a short on ppbus_g3h, corrosion near the right spkr_amp. removed the spkr_amp and saw short on ppbus_g3h. plugged in to power, boosted to 20v .600A and then back down to .300A. Trackpad was clicking when on .600A but no image etc.
Later, I tried again but it dropped down to 5v and never boosted back to 20V. checked board again and found ppbus_g3h shorted again....10-06-2025, 08:45 AM - Loading...
