I think the secret lies inside the aptio screen.

What does the load defaults do for you?

Insert a usb thumb drive. Do you see any activity? Some websites claim the bios can be reflashed using this method and screen.

I am able to flash the bios in the aptio screen using a USB drive but the machine turns off when it get to 90% at the EC FIRMWARE UPDATE. I will upload a video soon. Maybe that would help alot.
      Thanks again

Review the EC area. Is there a flash IC nearby? What are the topside markings of the flash chip? Confirm it is soldered properly.

        Was this chip removed?

Confirm the power rails of the EC.

The video is too big to be attached. Honestly I don't know what the EC chip is . There are 4 Bio looking chip. UH4, UE2, UT2 and UT5.
I will look in the schematic if I can locate the EC chip.
          Thanks again.

EC chip will be a TQFP package and large in size. Perhaps 160 pins with same number of pins on each side. Perhaps ITE or EN markings.

If the flash is external, small 8 pin soic are common and from Winbond. Will be similar to the main flash device but a lower density as it runs smaller firmware.

                Hi,
I posted a video on YouTube about the issue am experiencing since the file is too big to post it here.
The link is below hopefully someone can help me out since am out of ideas.
The machine turns on and off within 6 seconds. I disconnected the AC plug, plug in the USB drive with the Bios to flash 1.8.0 and press the ESC + CTRL key and plug in the AC plug and press the power button. Once the screen turns on I released the ESC + CTRL keys and the recovery screen is displayed.
I select the recover Bios and the following in the video below happens:

                https://youtube.com/shorts/e1l0gut9DJs?

The machine turns off during the EC FIRMWARE UPDATE and then tries to turn on but turn off immediately.

                Thanks for all help.

Does anyone has any insight in why the system is behaving like that. Is this a graphic card issue?
                  Thanks

I ended up stripping the machine for parts.

                          Thanks all that helped.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                            Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                            Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                            by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Alienware m15 R5 Ryzen No Power
                            by Green Probe
Hello, I have an Alienware m15 R5 Ryzen, P109f002, with motherboard GDL56 LA-K453P Rev:1.0, Ryzen 9 5900HX, RTX 3070. I got it due to it having liquid damage. I am quite new to chip-level repair, and this is my second post, so please be kind with my incompetence. The charging IC is an ISL95522ah in HPB mode as far as I'm aware. I've been using a schematic for a LA-K455PR10_0525A that is available in the forum, and it seems to match for the most part. If it's okay I can link the schematic, or insert the pertinent page into my post.

It had some crusty areas that I've cleaned up....
