Could HP middle pin cause damage to SOC?

Hello. I am about to get my new motherboard for a damaged starwars edition HP laptop (15 an001). The original motherboad got a short on 3.5v line, I traced it to the SOC (processor) and with the price of a new reballed i5 processor, it was better to just buy another board.

I still don't know why it would fail all of a sudden, I had just paced it down, I was watching a video, it kept playing then a second after I placed it down it shut off.

Now I am wondering if I should buy a new power supply, maybe there is a short between the middle pin and 19v line that occured when I moved it. I haven't measured anything off, but the question arises, could high voltage on the middle pin cause damage? I am guessing not, looking at the schematic, there is a zener diode on the line, which should protect the system, plus it seem to go to the kbc (EC) chip, not the SOC. But can anyone confirm my thoughts?

Can a high voltage (19v) on the middle pin cause damage?

Here is a snip of the scehamatic for the adapter detect section:

If the DC socket collapses and shorts 19V to the sense pin, the protection is there to prevent damage further down the chain. It goes to the EC though, not the PCH. Only ones I've heard of damage in this respect are some Lenovo's lappies. Most manufacturers have some level of protection on the adaptor sense pin when the socket disintegrates.

PCH failures are usually from a variety of things. Overvoltage on either the +3.3V or +1.05V rails is one. But given the PCH connects to the outside world via USB etc, it's more likely to come from there than the external adaptor. Sometimes they just fail too.

Forgot the most common one...liquid damage!

Thank you! That's what I thought, just wanted to verify before going out to buy another adapter.
