Someone Help! I have an hp 440 g4 laptop, powers on with battery and adapter, works with either or both. If I connect the battery it does not show if charger is connected, if I remove the battery it shows charger is connected, I have changed charging ic and mosfets along the charging line but the behaviour is same, does anyone know how I can solve this?

1) be sure you are using a suitable power adapter for this laptop.
2) attach the adapter & confirm the voltage to ground of ACDET pin #6 on the charger IC.

What is the voltage to ground of the ACDRV pin? You can measure at pin #4 of the 2*DCin mosfets.
This voltage must be ~25v to enable the mosfets.
Often, the 2nd DCin mosfet gets damaged.

Re: Hp 440 g4 charging
That is correct for this case - since only the battery is used to power the logic board.
Remove all power. Meter in resistance mode.
Check the resistance across the DCin mosfets to see if they are leaking.
Source (1-2-3) & Drain (5-6-7-8)
Source (1-2-3) & gate (4)
Gate (4) & Drain (5-6-7-8)
Post each measurement. If the resistance check is low, the mosfet is leaking and must be replaced.
One meter probe to one pin to measure; other meter probe to other pin to measure. Also post the meter scale used for the check.
