Odd PS3 USB Hub Problem (power backfeed?)

I didn't know where else to turn, I could post this on a dedicated PS3 forum but I doubt I would get any good info. If this is the wrong subforum feel free to move it.

I bought a USB Powered hub on Ebay so I could charge more than one controller with my PS3. The hub works fine for its intended purpose except for one fatal flaw. When I turn off my PS3 the hub should shut off too, instead it stays on for a second and my PS3 makes a horrible warble beepy sound. I have the newest Super Slim model, the hub is a CPS302 (an officially licensed product).

I thought about making a custom cable with diodes but I didn't want to have issues with voltage drop. I'm thinking if I used a data cable without power wires it may not turn on at all. Any ideas or suggestions?

Yes it has a ac adapter that provides power to the hub

why are you using a hub when all you need is a 5v supply and a bunch of usb sockets?
the only time the controllers need to be connected to a ps3 is to sync them or use them in recovery mode where the wifi/bt interfaces are down.

True I could charge the controllers another way, I have a 8 amp 5 port USB charger. I guess I wanted to fix the issue in case I started using accessories that require power. The super slim has 2 ports and I keep a thumb drive plugged up at all times for backups.

It also kind of "grinds my gears" that this is an officially licensed product with such a weird design flaw. Maybe I really am the only person with this issue, I've been googling it and cant find any one else with this problem.

maybe disconnect the 5v wire in the hub from the ps3 and see if it still works.

Most USB 2.0 ports can only source 500ma, that's why I bought the externally powered hub.

If I have time tonight I want to experiment with a USB cable and see what works. Thanks for the replies

Yeah, I wonder if this one is fake or mis-labeled... like those 99 cent chinese USB SD card readers, which don't read all cards, and fail like crazy.

It could also be the hub's power adapter that is causing the issues - if it's one of those really cheap low-quality ones, it might have too much AC leakage current on the DC output.

Or, it could also be that the hub is back-feeding 5V to the PS3 through the USB 5V line.

                        by theone111
I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
                        1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
                        2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.
                        3. Problem: TV shuts down

                        by Duranitron
When I reflash again the bios of hoaca388 the unit powers on and the unit lives!!! Hooray!! All voltage in the coil 3.3v, 5v and 6.7v indicate charging are all present. including the cpu voltage , EEPROM and GPU voltage the unit is now alive, normal screen booting to windows and log in screen until I power it off. Then the unit never goes on even when pressing the power button in the keyboard.. Voltage reading 19v main , 3.3v VCC in IT8225E-128 and EEPROM VCC 0 volt and the charging voltage 0 volt.

Try to trace the power switch button goin to the power switch IC PU8803 (APL3533AQBI-TRG)...

Hello, trying to fix C9 55 inch. I have pulled the back and all looks completely normal with nothing burnt so far. This is first time attempting to fix a tv so any help is appreciated.

Problem. I hit power button, red light on TV turns off and tries to turn on, no picture shows up and then shuts off. This occurred after house power turned on and off, not from a storm.

I have tested the power going from power supply to main board, all 12v and 20 volt readings are proper when I hit power button.

The power supply to t con is different story.

Help please..Lenovo ideapad 5 14itl05 power and charging problem
                        by Dr.d
I have a lenovo ideapad 5 14itl05, board LA-K321P, That will only power up on Battery only, or with battery disconnected and power adapter only. If battery is connected and usb-c power plug connected. It only works on battery and will not charge. I can however force it to charge by connecting the battery from a disconnected state while the power USB c plug is powering the laptop.

Additionally....to add to this strange situation. The usb-c power plug ONLY works to power the laptop on one side when inserted into the boards power usb c plug. If you rotate it 180 degrees, the board gets...

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                        by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...
