Successful replacement of the NEW Southbridge chip from China. Issue still remains though. But I have 4k ohms resistance to ground. When i feed it 12v of power @ 1amp. The board draws 54ma then drops to 22ma. Maybe the WIFI IC or the SSD controller.

Okay I think we are ready for chip orientation, flux and hot air. That and a whole lot of miracles haha

As Alex from NorthridgeFix would say " Better than factory"

NEW chip on LEFT. Re-Balled original chip on RIGHT.

Now i just have to mask the board. That's going to be a PITA finding the exact spots to mask.

Oh nice. Good to know. Have you played around with that ps5 NOR modifer yet?

i wont touch car dashboards - they have usually been fucked by people trying to reprogram the mileage who cant solder and often dont even have the right tools.
there is a guy in my area - never met him but he has one hell of a reputation.
i think he ruins about 20% of the stuff he touches - he uses a fucking Portasol gas soldering iron to lift eeproms!!!!!
Yep Lesson learned on this one. Yeah I have been asked to fix car dashboards but kinda shrugged them requests off. Nobody has been persistent enough that I have had to tackle any. Yikes! That guy sounds crazy! Haha The chip is ready to grow some balls now. I am thinking of using the original chip first. Save the NEW reballed one. This masking pattern is going to be a bitch to hit all the correct spots lol

Lifted the Southbridge and boy did I find a surprise. Not only oxidized pads. But whoever worked on this before exposed the copper and put the chip back down. Explains the eratic intermittent behavior of this console. Now I have to refer to online pics of the traces and mask what should not be connected. Fun times.

Makes sense. Okay used the red. Cured it and put the foam and liquid metal back on. Now i draw 54 ma of current and as soon as i check the southbridge cap. Boom down to 26ma. I think we may have a failing southbridge that just becomes more degraded each power up. Thinking of lifting it and reballing by hand lol. Sick of waiting for stencil lol

UV solder mask may be a good idea, does it even need galium? isnt it paired against aluminium?
if it was that hot they could have used copper.
Yeah whoever tried to clean it before I got it probably didnt use a swab. That is what I was thinking. Doesn't seem to effect operation as of yet. But we also dont have a stable console yet. Well they call for liquid metal. Still trying to figure out these engineer's method of their madness. All i have is RED for UV Solder Mask. We will definitely add some color to it lol

    Stj,
This is a better pic. Took one with my anti glare light. Clean. The chip literally looks like it has a fingerprint on it. And as for the solder mask application. Instead of conformal coating. I think I will be okay as long as I coat it fully and protect against the liquid metal. Console will be sitting horizontal anyway. What you think?

So I think my stencil for the southbridge chip got lost. Has not moved since June 16th from last location. Just to be sure I did some further troubleshooting while i wait. Now i just have a single beep without making any changes. Due to that fact and having to wait. I pulled the APU sticker up and found liquid metal bridging a cap. I have cleaned the APU and around it. But i have three questions. How would the APU get this diced up on the surface? Will this effect the chip? And last but not least.. Can i use solder mask to coat the area around the APU, or should I use conformal coating? Anyone else coated around their APU?

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
    by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

    Assuming...

HP Pavilion 15-eh Board DAG7HAMB8F0 - CPU throttling to 0.4GHz (PROCHOT_EXT) and black screen

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

PS5 Disc Not Supported/ Disc Not Recognized Board Num: EDM-020
    by Junior††

    Good Afternoon fellas,

    Issue:
Disc is showing as not supported when a disc is put in.

Here's what I've done, you can skip this if you just wanna know the question:
    - replaced with a disc drive from a donor ps5 (honestly questionable if this is known to work)
    - reflowed the disc drive connector
-reflowed the chip in question (shown on image)
    - I will say this console was very dusty so it's conceivable that it got so hot that it made the chip joints cold and potentially other things on the board

    Question:
    I...

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
    by Hakuu
    Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

    More Details

    TV Model - LG OLED77G1PUA

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...

    Sony xbr-65x900c main board issues?
    by jb_Bak
Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
Power Board Connector that goes to Main board
    CN6401
    Pin 01 NC
    Pin 02 NC
    Pin 03 "BL_ON": 0V
    Pin 04 "N/C"
    Pin 05 "STBY 3.3V": 3.5V
    Pin 06 "GND": N/C
    Pin 07 "AC_OFF"...
