Karavision PRO KP-8800 wont read burned DVD.

a friend of mine brought me a Karaoke Machine that was somehow damaged in shipping and will no longer read the Burned DVD that was in it when it was shipped. they swear up and down that it used to read that DVD just fine. The drive was making all kinds of horrible noises and wouldn't read any discs when i started working on it. after cleaning the lens and adjusting the spindle it will read regular CDS now but still wont read any burned CDS or DVDS or even regular DVDs. is this the proper place to ask about this?
cause its a video karaoke machine... not strictly "audio equipment"
and the problem is not with the audio or the video, its with the optical drive. ive taken it apart and cleaned the lens, and adjusted the spindle, and played with the pots...still no luck.

the player is sold in the philipines, allegedly made in korea...

im thinking finding a replacement drive might be hard to impossible.
but what about just replacing the laser?

its hard to make out in the pictures but i think this is the marking on the laser assembly:
    H6D071F8BRL
    HD-870ALSH

but of course the D's could be 0's or O's
the B's could be 8's and vice versa...
    6 could be a G

first part doesnt bring up anything.
second part brings up this: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/22518...andl_shipto=US
the laser assembly looks identical except for the first set of numbers. the other part (sled, motors, gears, board) might all be compatible as well, though the control board for the motor that moves the laser is not the same.
would it be possible to swap out this laser assembely?

    it could be the laser,
i have seen playstation2's where the laser can read cd's but not dvd's - i think it uses 2 different beams.
i wouldnt be surprised if the laser is the same in most $20 dvd players

Had a Sony PlayStation 3 do the exact same thing. It read CD’s but an absolute no go on DVD’s. I replaced the laser twice (first replacement was faulty too), but still works like a champ now and that has been a few years.

This uses a dual laser for the optical pickup, one for cd and one for dvd
            I believe this is a SF-HD870 pickup on a DVM-34 mechanism

im having a hard time finding anywhere i can buy this part that will ship to Hawaii.
i found that here as well as the amazon link they seem to have the part number SF-HD850 listed as well... as if these 2 parts are the same, or compatible? can i widen my search to include items that say SF-HD850 but not SF-HD870 as well?

ok i think i have found it actually on aliexpress. not sure how i missed it earler.
this appears to be SF-HD870 pickup on a DVM-34 mechanism
                  https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805163933619.html

but now that ive had that thought about the SF-HD850 instead i notice that it is also on aliexpress but about a third of the cost.

can i save some money and get away with the 850??? is it worth it to risk it?

i decided to play it safe and not let my dumb idea / cheapness get the better of me. ordered the more expensive part!
aliexpress says a month so ill be back then to report

                    Laser engraver diode burned?
                    by marce002
                    Hi all

I have 2 laser modules broken? (from engraver 100x100 cnc)
                    The electronics drivers are fine.
The diodes seem to be dead, both of them.
One is (electric) 15W and the small is 2.5W as in the picture.

Can I replace them by buying only the diode? Can you tell me which one to buy , i think they are 405nm and blue but do not know if can be replaced..and prices for them? I have already removed the 15w module as in the photo.

                    thanks in advance.

Need help to replace burned resistor in 350w atx psu
                    by mikey5791
                    Hi to all forum members,

Got this faulty 350 watt atx psu dirt cheap from a local online seller as i am keen to use it as a learning tool to repair faulty power supply.
The faulty part is quite obvious from the burn area near the 16pin KA7500 BD pwm. The fuse is still intact with good continuity.

Upon power on ac, there is 5vdc standby power on cathode of diode D14 and about 10vdc on cathode of diode D13.(This should be the aux power to generate the 12v and 5v rail.)
Initially i replace the two burned resistors near my marked red arrow to 200 ohm resistor...

Hilti PD30 Laser Range meter Error 276
                    by Dannyx
Good day folks.....wow, seems like forever since I posted anything here Still alive and well, thank you I guess you could say I've become more independent and able to work stuff out on my own. This one though goes way over my head and I doubt is fixable, but maybe some bright spark out there has an equally bright idea.

So: my Hilti PD30 laser meter quit on me just the other day. It was working fine, I set it down for a while and when I tried using it again it gave me an E276 and wouldn't do anything else. I tried taking out the batteries, all that standard stuff but nothing...

Building a Laser / Spindle Engraving Machine very challenging
                    by sam_sam_sam
I have been trying to build this engraving machine for last few months it has very challenging to get the part together

I had bought a very small engraving machine a few years and it sat in the box it came in because I could not find a reasonable priced laser controller and the same thing about the the motor controller ( plus the table was to small for what I want to do with it )

I have some challenges about the machine controller as well because I want an offline function so I can run the project with out having a computer hooked to machine controller

Power DeWalt 12V laser measure from power supply
                    by dansity
                    Hello,
i got a Dewalt laser measure which uses the 12V batteries to operate. The laser measure is faulty and I want to attempt a repair, never fixed such thing before. You might see a different topic if I fail with the repair
However I do not have dewalt batteries nor want to buy one for 140EUR as the laser tool might have some chance that it is very hard to repair or unrepairable.
I want to power it from my PSU.
The tool has 3 input pins, on the battery it is marked with B-, B+ and ID/TH.
i want to know what is the third pin exactly and what do I need...
