Abit BE6 in GW2K Destination PII sys

All 6 caps by the Slot 1 (Jpcon) are visibly bad; all others look ok but are Jackcon. Cannot recap as the box belongs to my cash-strapped school. Still stable according to previous owner; have not tested yet. Pics coming up later (tomorrow nite). Should I recap it and pay for it myself? I'm thinking of doing this as the box is crucial.

i bet you can do it Chris but if it belongs to someone else then you must inform them of the possibility of dead board after recap.

looking forward to seeing pics of success. remember : easy in, easy out, take your time.

Thanks Will and pics of failed caps not coming up tonight because school was cancelled due to no power. Pics Monday or Tuesday for sure. May recap it weekend after next; if board turns out dead after recap I will buy a new Slot 1 board with good caps and inform of the replacement.

Recap motherboards :: Abit KG7-LITE and Soltek SL-75FRN2-L
        by Foetuss
        Hi all

Hope this is in the correct place.

I'm planning on recapping both motherboards. I actually already ordered recplament caps for them, where I will be changing out most for poly's.
Could use some double checking to see if I'm not doing something stupid .

Pictures of the boards are attached.
What I will be replacing with what : (planned)

        Honeywell/Ademco Wave2 two-tone siren - recap, sch, pics
        by redwire
My garage alarm siren was sounding a bit quiet and the tone was weird, like mixed with another tone.
Powered up it draws about 14V 300mA with a spike to ~1A briefly during the low pitch yelp, seems normal.

Teardown reveals only two electrolytic capacitors inside, so I replaced them. 100uF 25V for the warble ramp, and 47uF 16V for decoupling.
The old ones tested OK sort of? - 100uF reads 68uF (-32%) ESR 0.80Ω, and 47uF reads 41uF ESR 0.87Ω as well so it was a bit confusing if the caps were to blame.
The tone caps are green film caps I left alone. Newer...

        ASUS P5GC-MX motherboard recap
        by momaka
Here’s another motherboard that needed a full recap: an ASUS P5GC-MX.
This one was gifted to me some years ago by user Pentium 4, along with a few other goodies. It actually came in working order with no bulging or leaking caps. However, I noted there were United Chemicon KZG caps everywhere on the motherboard. The CPU VRM output (CPU V_core) was the only exception: it had only 2x KZG. The rest was 6x UCC TMV 4V 680 uF caps… which aren’t any good news either.

So here is what the motherboard looked like with its original caps:

        Abit NF7-S v2 Recap - Not posting
        by tomalamix
        Hy everyone,

New around here but I've been reading a lot from several threads around here.

I have between hands an old Abit mobo, the NF7-S v2. It was working until a few years ago, but then started to start-up only sometimes and now doesnt start up at all.

The red light comes on with the PSU connected and the green light comes on too when i turn it on but no joy, it doesnt POST, no beeps, just the green led comes ON.

I've tried changing 5 capacitors so far, 5x Rubycoon 6.3V 3300uF that are around the CPU, no joy, same thing, no POST and green...

no-name Radeon 9600 XT recap and cooler
        by momaka
I've been seeing a lot of cheap-looking (but not always so cheap) no-name AGP video cards on eBay for a while. They started popping up quite a bit when the market for AGP cards became more alive all of a sudden due to interest in “retro” PCs. One thing that struck me about these cheapo cards is that they almost always seem to come with garbage caps - including the abominable Sacon FZ. That aside, though, I've been wondering about the rest of the quality (or lack of?) on these cards. So I decided to satisfy my curiosity yet again.

This one was actually suggested to me by ChaosLegionnaire....
