0.7 ohms is not low for that gpus. had rx4x0 and rx5x0 working gpus 0.7 ohms to 1 ohms.

SOLVED MODS PLEASE CHANGE THE TITLE [SOLVED]

So anyways Ive decided to do one last try, I flicked the Silent bios switch again, and restarted the computer, It took longer to start, and so i went into device manager and no code 43, i thought this seems weird, pulled up GPUZ and boom it shows full data including ram and BIOS version which was not there previously see the attached screenshot.

Feeling quite confident I plugged in the DVI cable for my other monitor into the car while it was still running and boom a perfect second desktop appeared.

In GPUz previously the Sensor readings were totally messed up, like reading 948534W of power usage and 100% load on the GPU and memory and such, Now it reads modestly and i believe accurately.

Its time to put it through the furmark soon, but first i will have to reattach the backing plate and screws.

So yeah some power cycling must have brought the BIOS chips back to life, or maybe just selecting the correct bios chip was all it needed. Im over the moon with this.

Big thanks to DICKY (as always) and SMDFlea for taking the time to go through my schematics and datasheets, you guys rock I aspire to be just like you guys one day!

Okay i found a winbond chip on my old 660ti GPU that i had lying around, i flashed the exact same BIOS i found online for the same model of card and suitable for the memory which is SK hynix brand.

Soldered the two chips in and started up the computer and its the same, Code 43 error, no picture on start up.

Could a faulty GPU chip be recognised to this point? I understand that most of the GPUZ information is read right off the bios chips, but would it even let the card be recognised if the chip is dead?

I will try another computer, just to see if it can even work as a Basic display adaptor, but at this point i seem to be stuck.

Update: So ive tried flashing another BIOS one with the exact matching Model no for the XFX RS BLACK EDITION 4gb, on a single chip, verified and it works, I have tried the bios switch on either position and i still get the same result which is

    NO picture
messed up GPUZ info like 0 MB VRAM

Also in devmgr i get code 43 on it, like it failed.

Currently im running a rx460 on the 4x slot and this card in my 16x slot and i can feel that the mosefets area for the VCORE are getting hot to the touch, the VCORE only reads 0.89 volts which is probably a bit less than the usual 1+V but i usually see this when Motherboards dont detect a CPU. The GPU chip is warm but not as hot as the VRM area.

What could it be, did shorting out the 12v to the bios chip fry anything else? I check the resistors around there are they seem to be around reasonable resistances 1k to 5k ohms. The BIOS chip is getting its 3.3v in just as usual.

Do i need both the BIOS chip slots populated?

what else could it be? a fried GPU CHIP?

I got it in my computer right now in the X4 PCIE slot of my MB, Its registers under the Devmgr as RX570 and here is the GPUZ screenshot of it.

It shows 0MB VRAM which is a clear sign of BIOS corruption or something, perhaps i need to have both BIOS chips present.

At present i only have one of the bios chips soldered. I will have to see if i can dig up a spare 25q20 chip somewhere with 256kb 2m/bit and try it out. Strange that i only can see one kind of bios dump for this card when it has a dual bios quick switch on this model, you would think that people would get both out.

big thanks for the non pin compatible chip tip from SMDflea otherwise id still be chasing my tail on this.

Okay I replaced the APW8713 with the GS 9238 and bam all the power is back!, I got 0.89 vcore 1.5 on the memory and the 0.9 out of the GS chip, fan starts spinning again. Problem is that no picture comes up when in my test rig,

I have also shorted one of the BIOS chips Chipselect pin to 12v when i was probing around before replacing the GS chip, it tripped the psu short protection but i think the chip is gone, I cant read any data from it on my chip reader tool, when i desolder the chip and have it connected to the tool, I swear that i can feel it getting hot. So anyways lucky for me i had a spare bios chip because this is a dual bios card. I flashed it with the BIOS online for the same model.

replaced the chip and i still cant get any picture. it used to read 3.3v on the ship select pin of the bios chip, but after shorting it, it only read about 2.6v. but now that ive replaced the chip its back up to 3.3v but no picture.

I hope the GPU chip is still good on this

yes that is correct i probed the voltages while on, it got 3.3v at enable, VIN and 12v at the non connected pin.

I'm not completely sure if someone has tried to replace it already, it came with an APW8713 but like i said it didnt look very clean.

One other thing to note is that this card I have is a XFX brand card where the only schematics i could find were for an MSI brand of the same model card. Is it likely to have the 12v circuitry all for a chip that doesnt need it??

Since the GS9238 is only about $5 ive ordered one just to try out.

Okay guys im stuck here and need some help with these diagrams,

The buck controller chip is getting 3.3v to ENABLE, VIN, also 12v Coming into the AIN (ANALOGUE INTERNAL SUPPLY) (mine doesnt have that mine is just not connected) but nothing is coming in or out of the VCC 5v pin, The schematics make it look as if its supposed to output the 5v?? the datasheet makes it look like it should have 5V coming into it?

Could it be the chip that is cooked or shorted?

Thank you for the tip, Ive been trying to read that PDF for several hours last night, its not very clear about the EN and the 0.8v EN which is also 21 in red. Its so hard for me to know which circuits are connected by what. I dont know what all these numbers mean? are they the order of power sequence? Its probably not 0.8v its probably 1.8v,

But i am yet to check, I need to setup my test motherboard and set it up with the PCIE extender cable that i got, just like exactly how dicky did to diagnose his 9800gt card. because at the moment i cant check the card inside my computer its hard to get underneath.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 - no power
    by PantherDave
    Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

    Hello,

AFAIK there's no schematics available, but there's one for LA-F312P in this thread. It differs in no Thunderbolt controller (iirc that's for 5290/5390), however rest of the schematics/BV seems to match 1:1.
