a neighbor got a free dual p3 1.4 box his work was going to toss.
        had stability problems/boot looping ect.
the allied psu had 3.5v pp on +5.
had nichicons on everything but +5
        both were fuhjju.
both read 7 ohms esr but were not bulging.
btw the green/gold teapos are blowing up in dell server psu's here.
        had 6 last week.
        mainly on +5 and +3.3

any idea which server models they are from? at least are they rackmount or pedestal? dell is making a big mistake in specifying crap in server psus.

i am waiting for several antec/chieftec psus with the green/gold teapos to blow up. great cases though, solid as a rock and as heavy as one. perfect for the office.

you guys all make my equipment feel old.

my teacher gave me an intel experiment tagged server with dual p2 266s raid, and other stuff. It lacks a hard drive rack fan. all the drives wouldnt spin up but 3. Took them all apart freed the head from the platters, and cleaned up the residue. put a fan the bays, and ill be damned that ALL the drives work again, and NONE have bad sectors.

i never use it, this monster has 3 powersupplies, one is dead because the fan sensor is shutting it down, fans bad. seized. with one powersupply, it costs 100 a month to run. hell with it. none of the caps are bad, but I had to replace the battery on the amiraid controller, that windows cant support. only mandrake 10.

              ouch!
              $100 month to run that?
i have 4 boxes running 24/7 and it only adds $8 a month to run them.
all are dual p3 1+ghz with raid scsi ect.
only p4 i own is a toshiba widescreen laptop that a barely use.
              this box is a dual p3 866 msi 694 d and adaptec 29160 with 2 36 gb 15k drives and running mandrake 10.1
it and the 21" cornerstone(rebadged hitachi) monitor use about 200w.
drops to about 35w in sleep.

add to the list addtronics, zalman, chieftec/antec, all teapo/Fuhjyyu etc. I have some chieftec running all day for a few years with teapo. no probs yet. all in large cases (chieftec dragon) with exhaust fans so maybe that is a factor.
