CH341 disconnects, test clamp not working, soldered bios chip but not erasing/writing how I fixed

    Hi,
So i've bough a ch341 programmer, and the chip was CH341B . the test clamp was not working( when connecting bios using test clamp, ch341 device was disconnecting) I tried soldering the bios on the provided board, soldering the bios I could read the chip but could not write or erase. ASprogrammer , neo, ch341a programmer... all programmer software was hanging and device was disconnecting after few second of erase/write operating.
So then I have soldered a capacitor(whatever I had..[10v ~470uf ] ) from VCC to GND on my provided pcb where you solder the bios

now all operations are working well. I dont know if it can corrupt bios content tho or whatever harm it can do. What is your opinion? 🤨

If after the modification you can read/verify the contents of the chip, then it´s ok..

But also always check the voltage of the chip, and use (or not ) the correct adapter when flashing.

I am flashing a motherboard bios. I have mentioned "bios chip" on the title.
          sorry for not explaining correctly

Probably 25Q64FV for HP 450 G1 in picture background...
Always clean clamp contacts and IC legs with IPA, and take care to not wearout plastic spurs.

Bios chip has 1.8v type, 3.3v type so there must be a 3.3v to 1.8v converter.

Sparklingx Thanks for the tip. I had the same problem. I used a 22uF 16V capacitor and now the programmer no longer disconnects, it works correctly.

My programmer has the marking CH341 on the bottom, not CH341A, and the voltage is 3.3V on pin 28, not 5V.

Ch341 won't read only when the chip soldered
                      by taojung
CH341 says "IC not responding" only when an SPI test clip is used and the chip has been soldered on the mainboard.

I tried "free" (unsoldered) chips (sop8 & wson8) WITH the same programmer, SAME TEST CLIP and same pin connecter AS ABOVE and they can all be read.

Everyone is buying the wrong CH341 programmer
                      by Sparklingx
Everyone is buying the wrong CH341A programmer, I have learned from my mistake. Don't buy the Black one or Green one.
Buy this one in the photo. Most stable and all your common problems (reading but not writing/erasing, software hanging, disconnects after attaching chip, test cable connected but chip not found/ device disconnected) will be gone.

Otherwise you'll have to solder capacitor from GND to VCC if you have those symptoms in your black or green miniprogrammer....

Doubts about: working laptop without a soldered ram/vga/battery
                      by DoOm86
I'm new to elettronic, so perhaps my question has no sense.
Can a laptop still work without one of the soldered ram?
I was wondering if a laptop (or any other device actually) can still works if removing a faulty soldered ram without soldering back a good replacement. Of course considering the mainboard has other ram chip perfectly functional.
I tried on a MacBook Air and also an Asus laptop and it seems no possible without a replacement. At least, not just removing the faulty one.
Sometimes for the seek of data recovery on a flash soldered drive on the mainboard,...

Hello guys ,i have a dell latitude 5590 with f411p bios, this laptop has bios password ,i tried to read the bios(winbond 25q128jv) with ch341 but when goes to verify give error ,it said doesnt match .After this i flashed another bios which is cleaned and then the laptop was dead ,i tried to turn on but only white light in the buton power turned on several times and then no display at all .I had a backup and flashed again the original bios ,but this time the laptop will not turn on at all ,no light nothing, the bios original bios that i flashed was having verify error when i verified with ch341 ,i...

                      Hi

I was trying to flash the chip in the board with my ch341a programmer, wiring as documented by https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX-Fhq9R4uY

it did not read anything so desoldered the chip from the clamp and put into my programmer board and also not reading real data, it only brings emptyness...

maybe i ruined the memory? turning the clamwith no chip shows Error and a beep wich is correct.

put chip back to the clamp, and shows some random numbers like calibrating and offers a 0.000 DC display and nothing else can be selected...
