    GF4 440MX puked. A couple questions.

First post, though I have done quite a bit of reading on the forums here. I have an old GF4 440MX AGP card that had a cap give up the ghost. This card lost any sort of stability, long long ago, so it was shelved, but I finally had a need for it and I decided to take a close look.

The card has a whopping total of 4 caps (yeah, its one of those low profile, $40.00 cheapo cards)- 2 1000uF, 6.3 V Sanyos, 1 470uF, 6.3v Sanyo, and a 1200uF, 6.3 V GSC. (I'll let you guess which one blew.. hint- it wasn't the Sanyos ).

So, a couple questions- first, since the Sanyo's seem to be good caps, and none of them blew, I would think it would be un-necessary to replace them. Correct?

Next- Any tip on where to find a low profile 1200uF, 6.3v cap? Newark doesn't seem to have any smallish ones (I can find some 10v ones, but they are 25mm tall). There seem to be a ton of 1000 and 1500uF out there, but 1200 seems to be tough to find. Thanks!

i didnt see anything interesting at newark lately
you can find 1200uf 6.3 panasonic fm at digikey

otherwise if you want to be really creative get a chemicon psa 680uf 6.3v which would be 10mm diameter and 11.5 height, its polymer so you can go 1/2 uf

      A Couple Quick Battery Questions...
      by SolomonMan
      All,
I have 4 laptops all the same HP Elitebook model. These are now close to 8-10 years old now but they all were high end software development machines (ie 16GB ram (32 max) and all now have been upgraded to 1TB SSD). They are used throughout my house (family).

I recently bought a Software Defined Radio setup (SDR) and I will use it with one of the laptops but the batteries appear to be all dead.

The replacements seem reasonable at the sub $30 range (some as low as $20 shipped).

So I am thinking of replacing them all.

      So the question...

LG 49UK7550PTA - after couple of hours screen starts to blink
      by JohnML1975
      Hello Forum team

Have this TV; searched for the model and could not anything so thought I would share in here

Had an issue, some years ago, and looks like some placed sticky tape over some of the lines on the FFC cables between the T con and the mainboard
Anyway, the owner, who gave me the TV, says it starts to blink after a few hours

So I removed the covers, and could not see anything visibly
Removed the power supply and thought some of the solder joints, on the hot side, were not the best. I thought some looked like they were cracked.

Lenovo T480s usb-c charging port replacement - Knocked off a couple of diodes.
      by Nikolai Danylchyk
Hi folks. As the title says, I was doing a port replacement on a Lenovo Thinkpad T480s and in the process of post-solder cleaning, I somehow knocked off 2 or 3 diodes (i think they are diodes) near the main usb-c. I can't seem to find what kind of a diode is that. I know it's ultra tiny and just has a letter "G" on it. Would someone maybe have a proper schematic for the t480s model? I can only find the non-s one and it's quite different to the "s". Would love to figure out what component that is.
      Thanks in advance!...

      Macintosh Quadra 840AV PSU
      by nicktasios
I had my Quadra 840AV (which I recapped and had working) plugged in for some time without using it and randomly decided to turn it on today. Unfortunately it did not turn on. After checking the PSU, I found out I was not getting anything from 12V, only from the 5V rail. After a few minutes, I removed the PSU and plugged it back in the electrical outlet and it suddenly started making a weird sound and soon after smoke started coming out. I quickly unplugged it. I opened it up but on first instance I didn't see anything out of the ordinary really. I later turned it back on and one of the MOVs blew...

(SOLVED) Sharp LC-46SB57UN Takes a couple to turn on and then no video.
      by JDC
Solution: Replace main board. I didn't in this case and ended up scrapping the TV.

This particular set is known for losing its 5V standby. There are repair kits available for this issue and a couple threads addressing that issue here in the forums. This particular issue addresses the TV taking a few tries to turn on and when it did, there was no video, and nothing lit up. I'm assuming the main board wasn't sending the signal to turn the backlights on. Power switch was tested and confirmed working.

A replacement main board on ebay is around $200, not worth it in...
