Capacitors for D845GRG Board (AGP SLOT)

Hi. I own a computer with the d845grg board by intel. It does not have an agp slot and the capacitors needed to power the slot.
The numbers on the circles that represent where the capacitors go are
c603 <------this capacitor should be located above where the agp slot is
c7c11<<< these are below the agp slot
c7c13<<<these are below the agp slot
c707<<<these are below the agp slot

what i am hoping to find is the exact values for each capacitor that is supposed to be in each spot (the values i listed starting with c*****)
If anyone can help I would more than appreciate it. Also I am not sure if I am posting in the right topic.

If your thinking about trying to add on an AGP slot, don't waste your time. Capacitors don't provide power, they either work for filtering or bypass purposes. Unless the bios is written to support the slot, and all the associated mosfets, resistors, and ceramic capacitors, and all that good crap are added exactly the way they should be you risk blowing something up or nothing at all.

My advice is to forget about it... any board without PCI-e slot (much less an AGP) is simply not worth fooling with.

      Hey, thanks

The bios does have agp as an option in the bios for primary output.
I have compared this board to several other boards that have the agp slot and virtually every part except those capacitors are installed on my board.
This is an older machine and I did not really spend money on it at all and I figured I would like to experiment with it. If I do end up killing it in the process it wont really effect me.
and to clarify I know that capacitors dont provide power, but i would not risk installing the agp slot if the capacitors were not installed to filter the current properly.
I still hope someone could help me out with this.

Could we have a picture of the board? 9 times out of 10, there will be tens if not hundreds of tiny surface mount components which need to go in.

I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

          1st & 2nd pics are my motherboard

3rd is the example I compared from.

          Help still needed....hhhh

Could you take a closeup photo of where the AGP slot would be?

I found some rather high-res pics via google, but the one without the slot is rather low quality, so I can't tell if there are SMD components missing or not. To make matters worse, the 4pin 12V plug wire is in the way..

I've attached both of the pics I found (cropped them a bit because of the 2000px limitation).

I've always been curious about if it's possible to add a slot (RAM/AGP/PCIe) that has been left out for OEM machines, but the few boards I've had with a missing slot were always damaged beyond repair in some other way (fried north/southbridge or something along those lines), so I couldn't try it yet..

Project Status as of 02.9.2012 : Incomplete NOT SCRAPT !! (yet)

Nope, that is the highest resolution my camera can take(its old)

You can take it from me, there are no missing smds in that area.
*correction* there are missing surface mount capacitors on the top and bottom of where the agp slot should go. As far as i can tell those are the only smd i see missing thanks to scenics picture.
Looking at the pictures you provided also confirm this for me, scenic.
Which btw are great finds, thank you very much.

if this guy can do it, id like to give it a try.

I need some more High Resolution photos so that i can see exactly what smd's are used on the D845grg board WITH an agp slot, so that i can compare it more closely with my board.
              More help would be awesome!

The circuit runs all over the board, not just next to the slot.
"That area" is everything between the the chipset, the slot, the video port, the power connector, and possibly the Super I/O chip and the BIOS chip.
In other words more than 1/2 the board.

It's not that it can't be done, it's just a LOT more complicated than it looks at first glance.
If you don't have the same board [with the slot] on hand for a reference for the WHOLE board then the odds are you will miss something.
                .
THEN you still have to hope that the chipset wasn't laser cut or something to modify it for an application without a slot.
If it was then the slot won't work anyway when you're done.

PCBONEZ, thank you for the insight. I really appreciate all of this information that you are handing to me.
The reasons behind whether or not I should commit to this kind of project are becomming much clearer.
Well I guess this idea is one for the shelf. I'll just look for more important and possible projects to do. This project is scrapped.
