    ABIT-BF6 --> Guess What !

    Just recieved an Abit BF6, of course it has the mean green Jackons on it, some swollen, some pooping out the top right along the slot 1 connector.

    First 4 are 1000uF, the rest (11) are 1500uF...

    Now I'm in a bit of a bind.. all I have are 1000uF FJ's & PL's...

    Should I go for it and replace the whole lot with 1000uF's or just find some 1500uF's...

    1000s should be OK - I do it all the time on Slot-1 boards. However, I try to use replacement caps with comparable or better ripple-current and ESR ratings. That's usually a Panasonic FC 10mm if it fits, or a Rubycon YXG 8mm. The FJs should be fine - since you've got 11 caps (probably many in parallel), you should be OK.

    The most stressful Slot-1 CPUs are probably the Katmai 600/100/512 and the Coppermine 1000/100/256. If those work, everything else will work.

      I may do it then, it's busted now, but if I get it working I have another test station for myself...if it stays busted it just ends up in the recycle bin anyway...
