    Issues with ADSL line filters

I've been setting up a new ADSL 2+ connection for the grandparents. Everything works great, the net is nice and fast... no issues there. However I'm having an issue with the ADSL filters I bought for them for the telephone.
From what I've discovered, it only works with the wired telephone that feeds power off the phone socket. If I plug that same filter into the cordless Panasonic phone, nothing comes through on the phone... it's all silent.
But if it's plugged into a wall phone, everything is fine and there are absolutely no issues at all.
These filters I bought are Telstra brand (Big Aussie phone line company) and they have one line to the wall socket which splits into "local phone" and "ADSL modem" on the other side of the filter.

What's going on here? Did I buy the wrong filter? or does the cordless phone just hate me? I use cheapo generic chinese made filters on my panansonic cordless phones here without an issue for years... though they are just simple units connected in series with one in and one out.

    The cordless phone hates you.

I use those ADSL filters all the time with no issues. Try some different ones.
Is the telephone cable being used by the cordless phones the correct one?

I think telephone cable has to be the right one other wise it won't work with or without the filter regardless. Funny thing is that the filter in question works fine on my home Panasonic cordless phone which is a similar unit to the other one at my grandparents house (though mine is a tad older).

Telstra states that if you have 4 or more phones on the shared ADSL line, you need a central splitter with professional installation.

The older dsl modems had line and phone on the back and id run line from the box to the line port then from the phone port to the phones in a star configuration. One possibility is the cordless needs a higher ring power than those elcheapo filters can handle. So id try buying a good brand like 2wire or actiontech before I started rewireing. Oh it also could be that the plug and jack combo are slightly out of spec causing a bad conection. Best of luck.

If the "professionals" are anything like where I live a blind novo can do better. Wish I could remember the link for advanced installs from when I worked for ATT over here in the states

Don't use filters if your modem and phones are plugged into different sockets. You only need a filter if your modem and phone are sharing the same socket.

This is not true for the UK. You must have filters on all sockets where there is a device plugged in.

I had no idea. I had the same problem though, until I took the filters out of the equation and moved my modem across the room. oh well

Re: Issues with ADSL line filters

In almost all UK installations, you have a 'master' socket where the line is run from the telephone exchange into your house.
Any additional sockets are then run as extensions from the main socket, or each other.
Having a phone call without a filter plugged in will make the ADSL connection drop.

You only need to use filters on lines which have ADSL enabled. But it should not hurt to have them on all lines, even those without ADSL enabled.

Re: Issues with ADSL line filters

Can you show a picture of the filter? Or at least stipulate exactly which model you got from Telstra?

There are a few which are available in Aus which are high quality. The easiest one to get is the ADSL2+ rated filter from Bunnings (Jackson brand). They are pretty good.

I have a Panasonic cordless phone too and everything was fine with those filters from Bunnings. However I have installed a central splitter now since putting in an extra phone on the line.

Apparently Panasonic cordless phones are a real nuisance with particular filters. So it does not surprise me that you have troubles only with the Panasonic cordless phone.

I have two TCL A30 phones.

Old Phone: This phone worked fine for years, then stopped charging If you plugged a charger into it, the phone would make the charging sound, the phone would tell you it is charging, but the battery icon would not have the charging symbol in it and the battery would not charge.I tried new battery, same behavior.

New Phone: Works fine, bought as a donor board to try and repair Old Phone

My interest here is to repair Old Phone, using components parts off New Phone if needed. I am not interested in replacing Old Phone with New Phone....

To you programmers out there I want to know if it is possible to put a new OS on the Sonim XP5s phone? I only need this phone to make calls, receive calls, have a list of contacts and be able to call voice mail.
I bought this phone new Sep.2021 as an unlock phone from a third-party seller. The phone worked fine until Jan 2022. I then had intermittent problems with the sound setting resetting itself. One of the settings, outdoor, would go to silent all by itself. When in silent mode it does not indicate a call has come in. I missed very important phone calls. All the other setting in sound...

                            Hi all,
Got this smart phone free from a guy who dropped it hard until the lcd display cracked with no seen display.
Opened it and found the display ribbon cable partly damaged. I charged the phone full in 2 hours time, the led red light turns to green indicate full charge.
Then i use a usb cable connect the phone to laptop but it only showed as media player with firmware version. Too bad there is no option to check folder.

Does anyone know any method to check if the phone is working good? Looking forward for any advice and help possible.

Hi, trying to troubleshoot some problems with this laptop I just finished repairing which had power issues (Burnt Buck converter - SY8883DFC shorted to ground).

After repairing the above issue, I realized the following remaining problem,
Sound only comes from bottom speakers, top palmrest speakers don't work. Neither does the headphone jack (static/buzzing).
The computer recognizes headphones are connected and displays a popup in windows
Sometimes, the computer will boot up and the sound will be working fine. However, if I run intensive programs and the computer...

Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH - Ideapad 3 well known solder joint issues
                            by Nagyesz
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH, which has started exhibiting the well-known issues of the Lenovo IdeaPad 3.

All stress tests run perfectly, and there are no performance issues. However, the solder joints are almost certainly starting to fail. If the top two screws on the back are not screwed in, moving the screen results in a BSOD or, in some cases, a slight artifact and freeze. This is a 2023 notebook..

How can I extend its lifespan? Could reflow help?

It has ryzen 5 5500h, rtx 2050, no soldered ram.

                            Example of the artifacts:
