Hi all,

I have X22WP-1080p that is working perfectly, however, I had a housefire that started in another room, but the heat got to my monitor and melted the top of the case.
My question is... does anyone know where I can get another case?

The only thing I can think of is to keep an eye open on Ebay for a similar model with a broken screen. Once you purchase it, strip it down for parts and use the case for your repair and resell the power supply and logic board to help offset your initial cost.

Well, I got my new caps in today and replaced them and my monitor now works perfectly. Another success story due to all the great help on this site. Thanks much to everyone, especially retiredcaps, and keep up the great work with the site.

Inverter Transformer: SPI 8TC00291

Another revision of the FSP050-2L02 uses a set of 4 transformers similar to the SPI 8TT00006.

Disassembly:
Do not remove 3 black angle head screws in back near connectors
Split front with putty knife working from any corner, no force extract LED from front cover
Panel: 4 gray angle head
Power Board: 2 gray plastic thread, 2 gray machine thread, 1 gray machine thread to ground lug
Video Board: 4 gray plastic thread, 4 VGA standoff, 1 gray machine thread at HDMI connector

Reassembly: Ensure all buttons click. Unfortunately the monitor must be mostly reassembled to test.

Bulged caps on power supply:
C551, C552: CapXon 470uf 25v (runs at 5v, good ESR=0.05, bad esr>=1.1)

Other caps that did not fail yet:
C664: CapXon 470uf 25v (runs at 12v)
C554: CapXon 470uf 25v (runs at 5v)
C1, C661: Taicon 1000uf 16v (runs at 12v)
C210: CapXon 33uf 35v (runs at 12v)

The video board has a dark spot near C37. C37 tests good.

C37: Jackcon 47uf 25v, esr=0.06 in circuit, esr=1.1 out of circuit

This TN Film panel running on DVI is as clear as my PVA monitors with excellent bleed control.

One person here on badcaps was able to fix their x22wg-Gamer entirely from the debug menu.

I replaced those caps and the monitor works like a champ!!! Thanks so much everyone for the help.

When I power on my monitor I will see pink and green dots all the display which I guess are pixels that arent changing color properly.

1) We always ask people to post pictures of their own monitors because it is not uncommon for manufacturers to make revisions or even complete board changes and use the same model number. Even the smallest revision makes a huge difference.

2) Post pictures using the manage attachments feature and please do not post pictures inline as they slow down the loading of pages.

3) For best picture quality and clarity take your boards to a window on a sunny day, turn flash off, and use macro mode. Take a top down view of all your boards (front and back). Make sure the photo is legible so that we can read the PCB printing clearly. A shutter speed of 1/125 or faster will produce nice clear focused pictures. Try to get a photo that is 2000x2000 resolution or as close as possible.

I also have a Sceptre X22WG-Gamer 22" monitor that is experiencing issues. Mine is much different than what I see posted here however. When I power on my monitor I will see pink and green dots all the display which I guess are pixels that arent changing color properly. After the monitor is on for awhile the dots mostly go away and are less aparent. Im a PC Tech so i've already made sure its not a video card or dvi cable issue ruling that out completely. Experienced this with the HDMI port also. I have NOT seen it happen while using the vga port. I've taken apart the monitor and inspected both the video board and the power board and didnt see any leaking or bubbled caps or burnt out resistors. Does anybody have any ideas ?? Im at a total loss here.

I think FR has too high of an ESR. You need to match the series properly.

If you want a list of the exact type of capacitors and part numbers from digikey for this monitor, let me know, I have already ordered and recapped it. My list also includes the primary capacitor and all the capacitors on the logic board.

That would be fantastic. The list would make me feel a lot better since I'm a noob at this (although I did feel some new gray matter growing as a result of my "digi-key-ing").

PlainBill says he usually limits himself to Panasonic FC and FM series. Digikey doesn't have the FC or FM for my 470uF 25v 105C 8mm x 16 with 3.5mm spacing, but they have an FR series 470uF 25v 105C that is 8mm x 15 x 3.5 (here http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...name=P14417-ND). Is there any issue with the Panasonic FR series that should cause me not to consider it? It even has an 8000 Hrs @ 105C Lifetime @ Temp rating.

The FR series is relatively new as compared to the older FM/FC series and will work fine.

You're best to replace them all, including the small one, following the recommendations in this thread.
If the large capacitor isn't bulged, you can leave it alone.

The white gunk is glue, not electrolyte. Nothing to show that those components have failed.

Do you actually have any bulging capacitors?

Thanks Sean. Yes. The CapXon 470uF 25v C551 and C552 are definitely bulging. C554 and C664 don't show anything obvious.

Neither of the Taicon 16v 1000uF 637(M) capacitors show any bulging on the tops, nor does the little CapXon 33uF 35v.

Hello everyone. Thanks for all the friendly expert help and guidance you guys give.

I too have the Sceptre X22WG-Gamer with the FSP050-2L02 power board bad capacitor problems. I'm not an electronics expert but am handy enough with a soldering iron that I think I can get this done.

Before I order my capacitors, my question is, should I go ahead and order replacements for the blue ceramic dipped C111 and C112 capacitors with the white gunk oozing around them (and the others like the coiled ones I've shown in the attached photos) or should I just replace the C551 and other bulging radial electrolytic capacitors (like the ones included in the eBay kit)?

I don't know enough about this to know if that ooze is normal or what.

Thanks very much for the link, but I'm neither an electrician nor a mathematician, so I have absolutely no clue what those pdfs are talking about. This is my first time messing with anything on a circuit board and the only reason I considered doing it at all is because it seems like a simple fix to desodder some caps and sodder new ones in.

Since the specs are fairly easy to find and compare online, I don't have nor need a full understanding of how it all works and the details of everything listed in those pdfs. Really I just need to know if the impedances I posted are an acceptable difference apart for replacement caps, but as I said before, I think I'm just going to order them and go with it. Worst case I'm out about $9, best case I repaired a $200+ monitor for $9. :P

HI all, I am new to this forum, I discovered it via google for what seems to be a fairly common problem. I have a Sceptre x22WG-Gamer 22" LCD and it has stopped working, When i try to power it on, the blue LED illuminates, and then shuts off and the LCD "clicks" as it goes off, then the LED flashes as if in sleep mode, clicking every time in goes out.

So i have read about the cap problem, and decided to take it upon myself to open up the LCD (i work for a high custom PC company and felt comfortable opening it) , On my Power Supply Board i have the same problem as the original poster, my caps match his caps from photo #5, I am curious as to a few things ....

#1 Does this indeed sound like what is wrong

#2 After reading the article found here https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=2280 i have become a little confused as to WHICH cap i need, i am left with these 2 options when choosing FM/Panasonic/470uf/25v as options for search and am unsure as to which cap is correct...

1. Yes, the symptoms indicate bad capacitors.

2. PROBABLY either will work. The difference between the two is the form factor - one is taller, but has a smaller diameter. Use the one that fits. Speaking from experience, it is embarrassing when you discover a cap won't fit into the available space, or (worse), you can't get the cover back on.
