Hi all,
Just had one of these in with the common complaint of screen goes blank after one second.
As there were lots of similar symptoms on the web I thought it was worth a go fixing it.
After managing to get the cover off it was obvious that something wasn't well on the inverter panel.
Dodgy caps?
Yep, but not what you'd expect!
There was only one electrolytic on the board and it's ESR was fine. However, a 0.22uF 100v capacitor had a nasty burn hole in the top of it.
There's two of these on the panel and the other one was fine.
The inverter toroids also looked a bit heat stricken but I think it was some gunk that was put in them that had dried up and gone off. They both measured OK at about 100uH.
A quick replacement of the burnt cap and tentative plug in proved that all was now OK.
