HP 1740 lcd monitor white screen.

    Hi, everyone

I have a HP 17" lcd monitor that powers up to a white screen. This is a new fault for me even though I have heard of it, i never wanted to see it. I have tried different data cables and computers, and checked the capacitors and pico fuse. Is there a typical fault condition that causes the white screen?.

Thank you for any experienced feedback. Andy

The most common cause for a white screen, is a defective fuse on the video/logic board in the monitor, not on the power/inverter board, if that's the one you have checked. If it's only the fuse, or there is faults that caused the fuse to open, has to be investigated by you.

Thanks SofTest for the tip, I then moved to the data board and found two s.m fuses.
      Unfortunately these tested OK.

I think you are still not looking at the correct board. Just to humor me, post a picture of the back of the lcd panel.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

I see, I thought you meant the dat board. I then checked the fuse on the LCD board, and yes it was open. I could not find why, so i replaced it with a similar one of the same amperage, and when turned on burned a three pin device on the data board near the data to LCD socket. The components on the lcd board are getting to small to see or re-work these days.

          Regards: Andy.
