Burned up CCFL connector.......what could have caused this?

    Hi,

I have this monitor.....symptoms: Turn it on and it comes on for about 2sec then shuts off.

I opened it up and found that one of the CCFL connectors "burned up". See enclosed pic.

Any ideas what could have caused this? Do you think if i just replace connector the monitor will work? Or do you think something more serious is wrong with the monitor?

They got hot and started arcing. That had to have made some racket and odor...... As for it working with just fixing the connector, try it and see.

Turns out the cause of this was a bad solder joint on the bulb itself. I took apart the monitor and found that the wire that "burnedup" had a bad solder connection to the bulb itself. I resoldered the connection, replaced the connectors and all is good now.

Note: This was on a monitor F90JS.

      Thanks.

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair
        by momaka
Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
        by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...

Burned Voltage Regulator in Monitor – How to Identify and Repair?
        by deep000
My computer monitor ASUS VP249H stopped working, and smoke came out of it.
I opened it and found that a voltage regulator had burned out.
The problem is that I can't identify its reference.
I searched online for schematics or photos of similar boards that people are selling, but without success (no schematics, bad quality of the board or lack of the reference when it's a good quality 😅).
How can I find its reference, and do you think it's repairable?
        Monitor: Asus VP249H
        Board reference: 0171 - 2271 - 6083
        Thanks

        AOC AG493UCX 49-inch monitor - Firmware request
        by wattage
        Hello Badcaps Community,

I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...
