    Burned Voltage Regulator in Monitor – How to Identify and Repair?

    My computer monitor ASUS VP249H stopped working, and smoke came out of it.
    I opened it and found that a voltage regulator had burned out.
    The problem is that I can't identify its reference.
    I searched online for schematics or photos of similar boards that people are selling, but without success (no schematics, bad quality of the board or lack of the reference when it's a good quality 😅).
    How can I find its reference, and do you think it's repairable?
    Monitor: Asus VP249H
    Board reference: 0171 - 2271 - 6083

    You see a part of markings, and silk screen, so check if ADJ pin is connected to resistors divider or to ground. If is to grount, this may be fixed LDO voltage regulator LM1117-1.2 or so regardles to part of marking 1.2
    It is important to check OUT pin traceback and confirm that track supply desired 1.2v voltage to other identified known chip on pcb who accept 1.2v to work.

        I agree, similar markings to the AMS1117 1.2v sot223

          As you mentioned, it seems like the component is the LM1117 1.2V.
          I'll go ahead and order it, and do the tests that harp suggested.

            Before installing a new LDO, check the resistance of the out output relative to ground.
