    ViewSonic VX2235wm

Hello Everyone I am a Newbie here to the forums. I have a ViewSonic VX2235wm Monitor that when I turn it on the picture is great, but after 20 seconds the monitor goes out but the blue light stays on. I replaced all 8 of the Caps that was suggested in other forums (None of which were swelled or leaking) and still have the same problem. The board is a DAC-19M009 with sound. Any Ideas?

That's a long time, but otherwise it sounds like the classic 'two seconds to black' scenario. Attach good quality pictures of both top and bottom of the power supply / inverter board.

Did you notice any red/pink hue before the lamps shut off?

No red/pink hue. If i turn off or unplug the monitor and turn it right back on or plug it right back in, the backlites come right back on but only for about 15 to 20 seconds. I will post pictures of the top and bottom of the board later today.

I've seen that behavior on Panasonic TLA-01511C units (I've fixed some of them and also their 19" version, the TLA-01911C). Normally they do that with the pink hue but sometimes (the TV I have in the kitchen did that) they are lit evenly in white and shut down after 20 seconds or more. One of the lamps is shot almost for sure.

Sorry I havent posted back but I went ahead and got a new replacement board for $39.00. The monitor worked fine for about 4 hours. The next morning went to turn it on and the same problem reappeared. After 50 to 20 seconds the backlights go out and the power light stays blue. Any other suggestions. I am trying to posts pictures.

The lamps (or one of them) are shot. I told you that before. Try to get your pictures up and also try to get another unit to swap the lamps

                  Re: ViewSonic VX2235wm

I also have a ViewSonic VX2235wm. I found that this monitor has 4 of the following:
                  2.6 x 480mm CCFL backlight
You can purchase the required quantity on ebay for about $37 after shipping.
lcdparts.net and has extensive instructions on how to replace them, and also sells them.

Your monitor may have a pinkish tinge that you are not noticing. I found that it was more apparent when I looked at the bad-lamp monitor side-by-side with another monitor that was working properly. Please try this and report back if possible.

Old fluorescent tubes, like my original lamp bulbs, have gray buildup near the ends of the tube. Do you see this on your bulbs?

My monitor had bulging badcaps *and* pink-tinged backlights. Like you, I was on the lookout for badcaps but not for badlamps, so I first tried replacing caps before finding out that I should have been replacing lamps.

A warning to all who plan to replace C200 on the DAC-19M009 board: Be careful to not to touch the tip of your soldering iron to C201 (a tiny surface-mount capacitor) which is only a couple millimeters away. I wish I had put some sort of protective cover on C201 while I was soldering C200.

                    Re: ViewSonic VX2235wm

I seem to have the same scenario with my ViewSonic VX2235WM. I fire it up and it will run for a couple minutes and goes black. I have over the past year and a half turned the brightness down and extended the 'on' time into hours but gradually I've had to make it dimmer and dimmer in order to get time out of it so I decided to replace the caps (my inexperience thinking it had to be the caps). I opened the monitor and none of the caps are bulging (they are hermei caps by the way) and I can identify nothing that points to the problem. From reading this thread I will check the backlights and post again if it appears to be that. I guess what I'm asking is, would you suggest replacing the caps even if I find a failing backlight bulb or hold off, and does it look like I'm on the right track? Hell I guess getting on this forum puts me on the right track...

Hold off. Examples of what bad ccfl lamps and wiring looks like are at
