Hi, was repairing a Benq Power supply-inverter, i wanted a cheaper and faster solution than buying c5707 kits on ebay, so i wanted something similar, even with a different and more common package like To220 that fits quite well i have already seen (same step), the c5707 datasheet says : NPN Vce 80v Ic 8A Pd 15W Hfe min 200 max 560, for all apart the hfe i can find equal>bigger value ones like an NTE 377 - NPN 80V 10A 50W but for the hfe i must be equal-over also?

Yes, and the speed(s) are critical: on = Td(on), off = Td(off), rise = Tr, fall = Tf.

Many have tried subs, I don't know of any that succeeded.

I've seen sources other than eBay selling them dirt cheap in lots of 10, 20, etc. Some online electronic supply shops, IIRC. Google is your friend. lol

Coreweave sells tehm (on eBay) for $.48 each (quantity 4). Shipping to Italy is $3.99 per order. Get a dozen delivered for under $10.00 US (less than 7 Euros).

Ok. It's seems difficult to find substitutes also with hfe and speed ok, so probably the only cheap way will be ebay. Bye!

We have one e-shop in Slovakia - but I'm not sure, if they are able to send items to Italy.

They have lcd parts (inverters, transformers), too. But they have no specification on it
Even worser - page is in Slovak only.

I don't know, how fast do you need it, but I will order some parts there next week. I can order it for you, and send it to Italy. Postal fees is 2 EUR.

The replacement for C5707 are D1804 or C5706

I just got 16 from them. Best price I've found so far even beats Newark's 1000+ quantity pricing.

These transistors aren't easy to sub their characteristics are very important.

Not to mention their failure can take out the ON/OFF FETs, the fuse, and in worse cases the traces on the PCB around the FETs so if a failure does recur. You may have more damage than you bargained for.

Lets also not forget getting the cover back on with TO220s would require slicing up the rear cover. Isolating the transistor tab from the grounded back cover is also important. Too much trouble IMO. If the monitor is worth repairing repair it once with the right parts.

I agree with the eBay route, you can get lots in bulk for a good price.
