Well I dug out this Dell e152fpc 15 inch LCD out of our new local recycling center! It would power one, but the backlight would only come on for a second. after asking many questions in an online room, I decided to try and swap out the back lights of an HP Paviallion f50 I dug out on the same day.
Same problem. The cold cathode lights only stayed on for a sec. I was looking at the inverter/power board, when I noticed one of the caps was ever so slightly bulging. After reading up on replacing CCFL tubes on some sites and then on capacitors, I hunted thru what junk I haven't taken to the recycling center yet, and found an old, spare PSU with the same uf and voltage ratings.
I removed the bad cap with some soldering and prying, and installed the new.
Then I discovered that the cap was wayyyy too tall to fit in the case, so I angled it and re-soldered. Aside from two damaged lines on the LCD, during reassembly, and trying for an hour to get the tiny ribbon cable that connects the horizontal interface board to connect right, the LCD now more or less works.
I would however, like to replace the two 1000uf, 16v caps with new, small ones, so I can screw the inverter/power board down.
Where can I find these?
Also, if anyone has a power adapter cable for a 15inch HP Pavilion LCD, since it uses an external brick, which of course I DIDN'T find at the center.....
