Xerox XM3-22wB 22" Monitor - Clicking from speakers (no display)

    Hello everyone

The display I am troubleshooting is the same one mentioned in this thread:
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=10851

I am trying to repair a faulty Xerox XM3-22wB 22" Monitor.

Upon applying power to the unit, a large repetitive clicking sound is coming from the speakers but there is no picture and no LEDs lit up.

I have replaced all of the capacitors on the output side of the power supply, but the problem still remains. (Not touched the caps for the backlight though).

    Further fault finding:
Upon applying power to the the power supply board disconnected from the main chassis, both power level (14V and 5V) appear Ok and stable.
When connecting the power supply board into the main chassis, the 14V is fine but the 5V level is dropping to about 1.8V.
All output capacitors (there are three) have been replaced on the 5V output side.

I wondered if anyone could assist any further please, as this is where I have got up to. The person I got the monitor from said that it was working but had been stored in a shed for about 2 months - Maybe it suffered from cold/damp during this time?

    Thank you for any assistance
    Ken

Oh well, I managed to fix it.
The issue was C206, a 22uf 50V capacitor on the input side of the power which I had not yet replaced (it was not bulging or looked 'bad'). I replaced it and the unit is now working.

Best wishes and good luck all
    Ken

That is the startup/running cap for the SMPS, very common failure cap.

HannStar Hanns-G HC194d LCD monitor repair

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

        AOC AG493UCX 49-inch monitor - Firmware request
        by wattage
        Hello Badcaps Community,

I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...

HP 27es - LED monitor - Monitor Flashing On - Off

        Hi Everyone

Lately I am experiencing the deja-vu incident on one of the led monitor like this.
        https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...lashing-on-off

The monitor is HP 27es LED Monitor
        https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Deskto...e/td-p/6804692

The monitor will randomly blackout and display no signal and will recover again.
Sometimes need to power and off again to restore the display but...

LG 23MP55HQ LED Monitor turns off after a few seconds or flickers.
        by Rick_1234
        Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

Philips F9217L-50R speakers – build quality impressions and DIY surround repair
        by momaka
More Lo-Fi speakers and another DIY surround repair. The patient this time: a pair of Philips F9217L-50R speakers from a budget Philips rack/component system from the '80's. The system belongs to my brother in-law… or actually his parents. However, they didn't want it when they moved houses and he liked it anyways, so he ended up keeping it. It's a pretty cool-looking vintage system with a wood/veneer cabinet and shelves for records and cassettes. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it or get the model #'s (but maybe next time I visit, if anyone is curious?)
