Re: Samsung 50 inch Plasma PS50B430 - Vertical lines - Help please
I reflowed the entire Y-Sus board, even though there were no obvious signs of dry joints.
In operation, the set does have a slight 'buzz' sound that seems to be coming from a KF13N60 MOSFET on this board. Is this normal?
The MOSFET does appear to have seen some 'action' (slight brown discolouration).
Thank you
Ken

Re: Samsung 50 inch Plasma PS50B430 - Vertical lines - Help please
Thanks for your reply.
I've checked both X and Y boards - All good - No dry joints as I can tell. In fact, the set is in very good shape, despite being 9 years old.
I will get the control board changed - It's very cheap.
If that doesn't effect a fix, I can look into other things.

Re: Samsung 50 inch Plasma PS50B430 - Vertical lines - Help please
Thank you for your advice, R_J - Yes.
I searched around on the net and found this video detailing just that!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjrwTZC5nVg
Running the patterns (with the main board disconnected) still showed the exact same line problem.
Would this lead me (us) to suspect the small logic board is faulty perhaps?
I've cleaned and reseated all the cables and don't suspect any are bad from visual inspection.
No amount...

Samsung 50 inch Plasma PS50B430 - Vertical lines - Help please
Hi everyone
I'm trying to repair my Samsung 50 inch plasma set, that has a pattern of one (or sometimes two) flickering vertical lines across the entire screen.
Note that this is intermittent - Sometimes the fault disappears completely and the set operates normally - Of late, though, the fault appears more often than not. Yesterday the patterns of lines was always there and has become enough of an annoyance to demand a fix or replacement.
What I've done so far.
Cleaned all the connectors with alcohol and reseated them all. It didn't help.
Pressed/wiggled...

Re: Toshiba 32D1333B Vestel 17IPS19-4 No Picture No Backlight
Reeceyburger - You are THE MAN!
I watched the entire video through and then started to strip the panel.
Ok - All done, and found the issue (see photos).
Two bad LEDs. The LED at 'A' in the photo is short-circuit.
The LED at 'B' in the photo is open-circuit.
What do you suggest? I don't have a heat-gun, flux or cleaner for a proper clean repair. Would an option be to cut-out those two LEDs from the strip and 'botch' repair the two bad ones with replacements...

Toshiba 32D1333B Vestel 17IPS19-4 No Picture No Backlight
Hi everyone
I hope you can assist in fixing my friend's television set.
Symptoms:
Initially the Power LED is red.
Pressing power on the remote or set, and the led flashes for a few moments and then goes to green. It stays green until the power button is pressed once again to switch off the set. I believe this is normal operation.
There is no backlight other than a miniscule flash when it is coming on (which you would miss if you blinked even slightly). I am familiar with sets where the backlight has gone, but you can still see the LCD operation....

Re: LG 32LC2D - Power supply with burnt IC
Thanks for all your input.
I had a look at the costs involved and decided to buy a complete 2nd user 'known working' power supply off eBay, which has cost less than all the replacement components combined (not to mention the additional work and hassle).
Thank you again, BudM for the pointer about checking if there is a short-circuit relating to the Audio power IC- I'll do this when I have a moment, and well-before I put in any replacement PSU. I know audio issues are very common in these LG sets. Is it common for the...

Re: LG 32LC2D - Power supply with burnt IC
Thanks, BudM - I will do.
In my travels, I found this very useful image.
I also had my jaw drop at the price of 130C capacitors (£5 each).

Re: LG 32LC2D - Power supply with burnt IC
Sounds like excellent advice to me, ReecyBurger.
My searches reveal that the burnt-out IC at position Q209 is a IRF7807, 30V N-Channel Mosfet. The suspect one next to it is Q210, IRF7807z Mosfet.

Re: LG 32LC2D - Power supply with burnt IC
I appreciate the reply, Michael.
As you request, a few more photos of the PSU board.
I marked all original capacitors with an X for my own purposes.
I cleaned up the burn mark off the board.
I would not trust the other IC next to the one burnt out either (another MOSFET perhaps?), as it looks like it may also be damaged due to heat. Some of the plastic is raised up off the top of it.
The power supply board model number reads LGLP2637HEP.
PCB number stamped on the top reads...

LG 32LC2D - Power supply with burnt IC
Hi Folks
I recently acquired one of these sets very cheaply with a known fault.
The fault was that the set would not turn on. The seller also said that before that, they had lost sound on the set, and that they have been using an external sound system.
Hoping that it may be a simple case of replacing some bad capacitors, I took the power supply board out - Many of the main capacitors are bulging, just as I suspected but looking on the back of the board has revealed something nasty.
(See photo)
It looks like one of the surface mount...

Re: Xerox XM3-22wB 22" Monitor - Clicking from speakers (no display)
Oh well, I managed to fix it.
The issue was C206, a 22uf 50V capacitor on the input side of the power which I had not yet replaced (it was not bulging or looked 'bad'). I replaced it and the unit is now working.
Best wishes and good luck all
Ken

Xerox XM3-22wB 22" Monitor - Clicking from speakers (no display)
Hello everyone
The display I am troubleshooting is the same one mentioned in this thread:
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=10851
I am trying to repair a faulty Xerox XM3-22wB 22" Monitor.
Upon applying power to the unit, a large repetitive clicking sound is coming from the speakers but there is no picture and no LEDs lit up.
I have replaced all of the capacitors on the output side of the power supply, but the problem still remains. (Not touched the caps for the backlight though).
Further fault...Last edited by Ken Laszlo; 01-08-2016, 02:43 AM.

Technika LCD22-228G 21.6" Flatscreen TV - Resetting after a few seconds
Hello everyone
I hope you guys can help me with my current repair of this Technika (yes, I know!) flatscreen 21.6" TV with in-built DVD. Crappy Tesco purchase.
(Please see attached photo).
Symptoms
The unit resets itself after a random amount of seconds back to standby mode and then attempts to fire back up again. There is no pattern to it - Generally it never stays on for more than 15 seconds.
The backlight is fine and 'No signal' is often displayed on the screen for a short time.
