    Strange Problem with Viewsonic VX2235wm-5.

G' Day all, I got this Viewsonic VX2235wm-5 from a relative of mine. They told me that they haven't used it for sometime, but they claimed it worked before they put it away for some time. Now, when I plug it in, the only thing that comes to live with only the blue led, turning dimmer after 1-2 sec after plug-in(lcd starting?).

Anyway, took it apart and there were no bulging caps, visible heat damage to the metal cage around the where the heatsinks were. Then I noticed a 2200uF 10V SamXon cap in the "heat box of death". When powered on, it was uncomfortably hot after running for 2-3 minutes.(shorted cap?)

I guess it's safe to say that the primary fuses aren't blown?

I have successfully found a similar thread but it was left hanging.(and had a completely different problem). If I missed out anything, feel free to leave it in the comments.

    Thanks in advance.

Mains fuse is ok but have you checked the back of your board. Cant help as you have not posted a picture of the backs.

I think the question to ask here is can you see anything on the screen using the flashlight?
        (look carefully)

That will determine if you have inverter or power problem.
Now it looks like it tries to start and some error sends it into protection shutdown.

Oh dear, I should mention more details next time. I had pointed a torch on the front and nothing. Not even a faint "no signal". I starting to think that the cap is shorted or something.

General idea of posting a picture is that we should be able to see what is on it.
At a minimum we should be able to read the board markings.

You could always try just changing that one cap?

Perhaps a shorted MOSFET causing the cap to get hot.

Okay, Selldoor I had changed the cap and it works! Thanks a lot! Sorry you had to put up with my slow response time. But was the cap heating up because it's shorted?

It is unlikely to have been shorted. Shorted caps usually burn up and quickly become open. More likely is it was poorly rated for its position and was just
in the process of dying. May even have been a poor solder joint . Hopefully you will have replaced it with a 105 degree good quality cap. Test what other components are in that area and test run it for a while to see if it overheats again

The originals look like Capxon (aka Crapxon) branded caps. If yes, replace them all now before they all bulge with something like Panasonic FR, FM or FC series (low ESR caps).

Hmmm, I didnt have too many good caps in my inventory so I just threw in a Teapo temporarily. The heatsinks get hot due to poor dissipation. I'm thinking of repositioning the cap using wires to another place.

It is not generally recommended - The legs on caps should be a short as possible
as long legs alters the ESR of the cap. Better to buy a decent cap- see if you can get one in the size you need rated at 125 degrees.

Also if you can get at it try and measure the voltage on the cap and test for a 10 seconds or so to see if it is fluctuating.

+1. You see a lot of people on youtube bodge it this way, but don't do it.

Rubycon's RX series goes up to 130C.

I have an LG Plasma TV 60PM6700 for the past ~12 years.

In the last ~3-4 months I have been having some issues.
                            1. Problem: It started with random picture disappearing (sound still worked).
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait a few seconds before turning it on again.
                            2. Problem: Then it got worse and the TV started to shut down and when turning on the no picture just sound.
Frequency: Happened about once a week.
Solution: Had to turn off TV wait about 10-20 seconds and turn it on again to solve.

The laptop was turned off because the MOSFET was not transmitting voltage. After checking it turned out that the gate pin on the MOSFET was the problem, because it was producing an inappropriate voltage. and it was discovered that the problem was with the Think engine, so I decided to reprint each pin, and finally the mosfet could work properly. However, there is another problem, even though the voltage has been supplied to the laptop, it still won't turn on, there isn't even an LED indicator. After double...

                            Good morning,
I have a problem with Lenovo T580, which after error code 0288 suggests a problem with the display. I checked the display and it works on another laptop. I replaced the display cable with a new one. I programmed another BIOS (downloaded from this forum) and I still have the problem of a dead display - there is an image via HDMI, and the system does not detect the built-in LCD at all. The problem appears to be hardware. What can I check to confirm or disprove this? I found many threads on the Internet related to this problem 0288, but without specific solutions. Please advise....
