Spectre X-9 Computer Monitor w/WHITE SCREEN

Like I said, I have a Spectre X-9 Monitor with an intermittent WHITE SCREEN. It would play ok for awhile, then go to white screen but would still have sound. I think I've found the problem but now need to find out what to do to fix it.

After tearing it apart, and letting it play, (out of it's plastic cabinet) when it would go white, I would push and pull on the components and finally I found that the cable running from the power board to the main board, had a loose connection at the plastic connector. When I pull the wire, the picture flickers or goes white, them do it again, and it comes back perfectly.

Now my question, when I pull on the wire where it enters the plastic connecter, I can feel and see it move through a hole further down the side of the connector. Does it need tightened up where the wire connects to the female end of the connector, and if so, how?

Do you think this is just a "dirty connector" and should I spray a little "electrical Cleaner" in the end of the plastic connector? Thank You!

Can you post a picture of where the cable is loose in the connector?
Most connectors have a latch to tighten and loose the cable when it needs to be removed. It may just have come loose on its own or may be broken. A picture should be able to shows us which it is. Also, it wouldn't hurt to wipe the contacts on the cable with some IPA (rubbing alcohol).

Lastly, when attaching pictures, please use the forum's built-in feature instead of posting them to some 3rd party website (like imageshack, imgur, etc.)

It is the second wire in, from the top, the brown wire, that makes the picture flicker, and go to white screen when I "jiggle" it! In one picture it is second from the bottom, because I turned the connector over. It's the end of cable at power supply. If I jiggle it at the main board end, it doesn't affect the picture.

Ah, it's one of those connectors.
Problem could be either a bad solder joint on the female connector (check solder side of power supply board) or loose contacts in the male part of the connector.

With those male connectors, you can usually pull the wires out to inspect the contacts. Using your 3rd picture as a reference, just push on the metal contact for the pin you want to take out of the connector and then pull the wire. It should come out. You can then tighten the metal contacts.

Also, resolder the pins for that connector on the power board.

Momaka, I cleaned the terminals on that connector at the power board with the alcohol and hooked it back up to the computer. It helped a little, but the screen was still flickering. I then unhooked it again, took the power board off it's mounting, and checked the solder joints where the pins go up through the board. On the third pin down from the top, I noticed a small crack in the solder joint. I heated up and "resoldered" that joint, put the board back on, and hooked it up to the comuter. Looked good! I reached around the back and pushed, pulled, and jiggled the wires like I had before! So far, looks good, no flickering, and no white screen. Thanks!

No problems, glad everything worked out!

If it does it again, now you know where to look.
