OK,,,,,,,,,,I'll see what I can find out on the voltages. If you hear a BIG BANG, you'll know what happened! May be a while,,,,,,I've got some other "irons in the fire" as well. Take care!

Maybe the resistor is ok then,,,,,,,,,,on the 2000k scale it shows continuity (000 on meter), the same as when you touch probes together. When I checked the resistor on the 2000 Scale,,,it read 469.

They are both really hard to read, the resister and the capacitor. The resistor has the letter (or letters) RJ, or BJ, or could be just a large R, with the number 750 printed on it. Even with a magnifying glass it's hard to make out the letters. The number 750 was larger and very clear.

The capacitor was also hard to read. It looks like: 47 Ohm M 275V~X2 and then under that line it has: 3382MKP50709

No, I don't think I can read capacitance, just have a small multimeter that I purchased at Sears.

I think you were right about that resister. When I checked it on 200 ohm scale, it flashed a number, then went to the 1 at the left of the scale, indicating that it's open. I have a continuity checker that beeps. Touch the probes together, and it beeps,,,,,,,,put a probe on each end of the resistor,,,,,and nothing.

Not sure on the capacitor. Put meter on the 2000k scale and it started out at about 800, and slowly the numbers continued going up.

OK,,,,,,here's the sticker on the back.

On the resister, can I just release one end of the resistor to check it,,,,,or should I take it out of the board completely?

On the capacitor, should I check it with the power plugged in, for DC voltage, and if so, how do I tell the polarity on it (don't think I've ever checked one like that before) I didn't check closely, but don't remember seeing polarity,,,,,I'll check again.

    Thanks again for the guidance!...

It seems that most of the pins on these boards are not labeled. I plugged it in,,,,,the green lights (standby voltage?) came on for a couple seconds,,,,,then went off. I measured the voltage on the ribbon that goes from power board to main board AT the edge of the power board.
Pin furthest to the left I'll call #8 on the pic of the top of the board,,,,,,#8 pin will be the furthest to right on the pic of bottom of the board.

    #8 0 Voltage
    #7 0
    #6 0
    #5 0
    #4 0
    #3 4.0 Volts
    #2 5.0 Volts
    ...

Seems like there were a lot of numbers on these boards: On the power board was 3104 303 50594 Then on a sticker was ES 730.3 002.C 0011407 and S310432848912 284912
Then on the main board: 3104.303.50842 D and 8204.004.58882 Hope these are what you need.
DISREGARD MY %6 post, I had a ribbon cable disconnected and did realize it at the time. My symptoms are still the same as in my first post.

Hi,,,,,I just got back to my tv. I checked for power at the ribbon that goes from the power board to the main board (with everything connected) and found no dc voltage at any of the pins. When I plug in the AC cord, the green lights (standby voltage, I guess) come on and the blue power light comes on. Then the green lights on the main board go out, and the blue power light goes out and turns to a red blinking light of six long and three short blinks. I had my wife plug it in, and there is still no dc voltage at that ribbon with the green lights...

Thank you for the info,,,,,,,,,,,,,,do you mean put the black lead on a ground (where a screw holds the board down) and then check each point where a wire leaves the power board thru the connectors with the red probe and record the voltage,,,,,,,,,,,with the unit plugged in?

    Phillips LCD Model #42PFL7422D/37
I have this 42” tv, Phillips LCD Model #42PFL7422D/37, when you plug it in, it shows a solid blue power light, black screen (nothing on the screen), and then makes a clicking sound for a while, then shuts down (with no power light). I thought wow, easy fix, probably bad caps. Took the back off, cannot see any visible signs of bad caps (no bulging or leakage visible). I then plugged it in and turned it on to see where the noise was coming from, could see two different places that lit up and went back off with the clicking sound, on the main board. The...

  • Re: Need help DCLCD 19" LCD Monitor - I already replaced caps

Hello, I was having problems with this same board. I had the 2 seconds to black problem. Followed the threads until they came to a "screeching halt"! I then decided to check out my board. I was trying to check the voltage at the filter capacitor,,,,when I slipped,,,and shorted something out. I saw a "puff of smoke come up between the two disc capacitors and the transformer beside the filter capacitor. Couldn't visually see any problem with either of the components but evidently there is. Everything...

Hi, I followed this post all the way thru,,,,,hoping that someone came up with the answer. I thought that surely, DJM_PHX, would let us know what happened after all of his testing,,,,,,,,,,then,,,,,,,,,,,,nothing???????

  • Re: Spectre X-9 Computer Monitor w/WHITE SCREEN

Momaka, I cleaned the terminals on that connector at the power board with the alcohol and hooked it back up to the computer. It helped a little, but the screen was still flickering. I then unhooked it again, took the power board off it's mounting, and checked the solder joints where the pins go up through the board. On the third pin down from the top, I noticed a small crack in the solder joint. I heated up and "resoldered" that joint, put the board back on, and hooked it up to the comuter. Looked good! I reached around the...

  • Re: Spectre X-9 Computer Monitor w/WHITE SCREEN

It is the second wire in, from the top, the brown wire, that makes the picture flicker, and go to white screen when I "jiggle" it! In one picture it is second from the bottom, because I turned the connector over. It's the end of cable at power supply. If I jiggle it at the main board end, it doesn't affect the picture....

  • Spectre X-9 Computer Monitor w/WHITE SCREEN

Like I said, I have a Spectre X-9 Monitor with an intermittent WHITE SCREEN. It would play ok for awhile, then go to white screen but would still have sound. I think I've found the problem but now need to find out what to do to fix it.

After tearing it apart, and letting it play, (out of it's plastic cabinet) when it would go white, I would push and pull on the components and finally I found that the cable running from the power board to the main board, had a loose connection at the plastic connector. When I pull the wire, the picture flickers or goes white, them do it again, and...

  • Re: Dead Vizio VL 420M

Hey Bud and Cap,,,,,thought I'd let you know that I got her "fired up and working"! I only put "one resistor" back in, between the +5vbs and the PS_ON. I also "cut the wire" on the PS_ON between the two boards like you said to do. Doesn't need a switch, at least not so far! I plugged it in and the yellow logo came on,,,,,,hit the "power button" on the remote and the logo turns white, and the tv comes on. Hit the "power button" again and the tv goes off, with the yellow logo returning. The back lights are also...

  • Re: Dead Vizio VL 420M

Remember Cap, don't give me too much information at one time! You are talking about soldering the TWO resistors back in? Yes, solder 1K resistor back between +5vbs AND PS_ON. Cut wire that runs between PS_ON on power board and main board.

I also have to solder the second 1K resistor back in between +5vsb and ON_OFF INVERTER?

Since this is a tv in their "rec room", they probably wouldn't care if we replaced the board or not, as long as it would work and be safe with the switched outlet. So, I could re-assemble it and...
