    Gateway FPB1730--please help with an overview

    I have actually been able to fix some monitors and TV's with the generous help of people on this forum. I have a problem with another monitor, but I am more interested in increasing my tiny base of understanding. Referring to the picture, is this how the process works to turn on the monitor?
    On/off switch on board 1 sends an 'on' signal thru connection A
    Logic (or main) board 2 receives the 'on' signal thru connection B
    Logic (or main) board 2 sends the 'on' signal to power board 3 thru connection C
    Power board 3 receives the 'on' signal thru connection D
    Power board then sends power thru connection D back to logic (or main) board 2
    Power board turns on power to backlights thru connections F
    Logic (or main) board then sends processed signal thru connection E to the LCD panel
    Is this somewhat correct? Feel free to laugh or to correct my meager understanding!

      The power supply board is always running (putting out voltages the minute you apply the AC power to the board), the inverter board and the T-CON board are in off mode, the main board is always running. When you hit the power button, the main board micro controller sends out the BL_ON and the Dimming signals to turn on the inverter. The main micro controller also send the on signal to turn on the MOSFET on the main board to supply the B+ to the T-CON board, If there is not video signal from the PC, the micro controller will put the unit into standby mode after 3~5 seconds and will get out of standby mode when video signal is detected.

          Whew, Bud....that was a mouth full! I am adding a picture of the last connection which I am identifying (correctly or incorrectly) as the Tcon board. That is where the cable from connection E goes. In this situation, is the inverter board combined with the power board (#3)?

                      I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

                      Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

                      I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

                      The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

                      With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                      Hi There,

                      This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

                      After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                      Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

                      Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:

                      I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

                      The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.
