Planar PX2611W (LM260WU1) goes black; hard power reset restores image for 5 minutes

    Hello,

I bought a Planar PX2611W in 2009, and have used it since that time.

Recently, I started noticing a strange artifacting problem, where it seemed like the blue in the monitor developed a little bit of static, which would gradually get worse until either the monitor went black for a second and reset, or I reset the resolution.

A few days ago, the monitor went black suddenly, and the power and menu buttons became unresponsive. I found that the only way to bring the image back was to hard reset the power. This brings back a perfect image, however it only lasts a few minutes until going black again. This is very annoying as it does not come back instantly, and is happening very often now.

Before I put it on a separate switch to make it easier to reset, I was resetting the plug directly on the bottom of the monitor, and it generated an all-blue and and all-green screen a couple of times.

What is broken here? I can disassemble and repair the necessary components, but I have no idea what makes this type of issue happen.

Is this characteristic of a specific component failure? Or, what is the simplest way to fix the issue?

Souns as though it could be '2 Secs to Black' and full directions are shown as a 'sticky'You will need to open it obviously and photos would help if necessary after you have followed the procedure in the sticky and still have problems. For the photos use 'Go Advanced' below, and then 'manage attachments'.

I read the sticky, and this doesn't seem to be the description of my issue. I suspect the power circuit may be an issue for me, but I do not know which piece could cause a problem like this.

It is unlikely for a CCFL failure to manifest itself after a few minutes. My guess would be either bad caps or bad Tcon. Take it apart and post some pics.

I agree with the tcon possibility, but not the ccfl one.

A ccfl is a type of discharge lamp. Like the sodium discharge lamps in some streetlights (sodium gives a yellow/orange glow), the ccfls can, at EOL, start up and run for a few minutes before the inverter detects the bulb needs a higher voltage than it can supply, therefore shutting down... This happens when the bulb warms up. As it warms up, at EOL, to maintain a steady current flow, the voltage the lamp needs increases.

If you see a yellowish/orange street lamp that is going on and off every few minutes, it is likely that it is a sodium lamp, which has reached its end of life (EOL).

Ok, good to know it's worth a look. I'll be back with some more questions when I get the boards out.

              Hi All,

Bringing back an old thread. I have a Planar PX2611W that has died as well. Looks like different modes of failure until it finally doesn't want to turn on 90% of the time. Did you ever narrow down what parts were causing your problem? Thanks!

The town hall also had a metal halide light do that and may have just been a poorly seated bulb, because it was more likely to do that under different weather conditions. Seemed more likely to do that when the nights were warm and possibly when more humid.

Recently, got one right out back in the big parking lot!

Been doing that at least since early 2015! The HPS light keeps doing that.

Sony OLED XR-77A80J - 5 Flashes But Turn On After Hard Reset
                  by odie34
I am a hobbyist (not a professional) so please be gentle...

I recently received an XR-77A80J that wouldn't turn on. (Repeating 5 flashes when plugged in.)

I did a hard reset by holding the power button for about 30 seconds until the set powered down. I then tried to turn it on and it powered up, bringing me to the setup screen. There's not a lot of detail on the setup screen but the picture didn't have any distortions, so at least a cursory examination suggests no physical damage to the screen. The set appeared to be working normally, but it shut down after about 15 seconds,...

There are videos on youtube for every other model but this one, I do not have the switch on the board or reset jumpers.

I do have 2 little pads right next to the firmware chip, I have shorted these and powered the system on and waited a wile
with no luck. I will add picture of these 2 pads.
I do have the bin file from the firmware if its any good to anyone maybe able to edit out the pass I am not sure.

                  Hello everybody!

To put you in context I recently replaced the battery from my HP Pavilion 15 bc400ns with a used one, everything was going good. The same day, I decided to update the BIOS, everything went good. The thing occurred after I let the battery drain iddling on Windows 11 for the second time to calibrate it that the screen did not turn on again, the computer was on but the screen did not turn, like it would not wake from hibernation. I decided to restart the computer but got no video.

The thing is that I had installed TeamViewer and could log into the computer...
