Optiquest Q22wb - Will Not Power On

I have an Optiquest Q22wb and the power button became unresponsive, so I ordered a kit with all the caps except the large one.

After soldering the new caps into the board I still get no response from the monitor.

There are some large blackspots on the board which makes me think perhaps a different part blew in the monitor, but I really don't know which is why I am posting here. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Here are some photos of the board:

I've unplugged the board with the power button for this photo, but it was plugged in:

Here is the top of the board with my new caps:

This is the worst part of the blackened board:

Do you have a multimeter you can test the button with?

It is very unlikely to be the Power Button itself. You will need a multimeter, initially to measure DC Volts.Plug the Power Board ONLY into the Mains(this works in part without the Power button and any other board etc)Be VERY VERY CAREFUL as there is large voltages around when you switch the mains on.Measure across the Large Cap and advise the reading...NOTE this could be as much as 330volts DC if your mains voltage supply is 240V.

OK, I have a multimeter, plug in the board to the AC outlet and measure voltage across the two leads of the large center capacitor in DC, correct?

I'm betting on one of those surface mounted transistors/voltage regulators being toasted badly (probably shorted out).

I've never replaced a surface mounted component, is it difficult/possible?

You are getting ahead of yourself, but in answer to the question yes they can be replaced quite easily
