help with Dell display unit model # 900G

sorry it is a Gateway not a Dell. i was looking at my display when i wrote "dell"

first i need help removing the cover

i removed the 4 screws that go to the wall mount area of the back cover

i removed the 4 screws at the bottom

then pryed part of the cover off which does separate partially at the bottom and top

i do not want to try anymore force because it feels like it will crack

second problem is that it does not power up when i plug it into the wall
the power button does not illuminate

im guessin a faulty power supply possibly some defective caps but i wont know until i take it apart

    thanks

If you have taken all the screws out, then it will come apart,so you will have to bite the bullet and continue to separate it.

            Just as I suspected
There are about 6 bulging caps on the board
But I will change all of them

Do they sell a kit for this monitor?

            I need the following caps

            5 pcs of 470uf 25v caps
            4pcs of 220uf 25v caps
            1pc of 47uf 25v cap

Where is the best place to buy these

            Thanks for the help

Well now I can say I fixed my first computer monitor

I replaced all of the caps but I kind of almost damaged the circuit board

When I replaced one of the caps after the solder cooled down I pressed on top of the cap and some of the green material lifted from the board

Luckily when I connected everything it still worked

I guess time will tell on how long it will last

Bad soldering (uneven clumping on each solder pad) there. The copper trace lifting off the board is probably from overheating (ie. placing the soldering iron too long). Looking at those areas being quite "clean"... Did you use any solder paste or flux?

You should use at least 40Watts soldering Iron, I use 60 Watts Weller.

No wonder! Already guessed from the look of the board...

Using solder paste and/or flux can lower the melting times allowing the solder to be sucked/removed quickly as well as giving "smoother" solder joints (as solder will melt quickly and easily in the presence of solder paste and/or solder flux)...

                                  Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.

I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:

If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):

When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.

Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.

I have a Dell Latitude 5530 with a damaged RJ45 network connector. See the attached pictures.

Have already searched on Farnell / Aliexpress / Ebay and had contact with several suppliers on Aliexpress and Ebay, but they cannot deliver this connector.
Is there someone inside the EU, who has these connector(s) or perhaps defective motherboard(s) for these laptop models I have mentioned in the topic title.
