HP 2159m - No signal issue

I recently aquired a HP 2159m monitor. The monitor will turn on for a short period of time after having a video source (Can be HDMI, VGA, or DVI) and AC power plugged in, it will display a menu that claims it cannot detect a signal from any of the video sources, then the display goes into stand-by.

So far, after reading a few threads about this monitor and general trouble shooting:
    - I tested the fuse on the power supply to have no resistance.
    - The large cap on the powersupply has ~160V across it.
    - The +5V leads from the powersupply to the mainboard measured 5.28V.
    - The voltage regulators I could find tested as follows:

    U202
    ⊃||8J4
    17-18L
    Pin 1 - 0.000V
    Pin 2 - 1.781V
    Pin 3 - 3.500V

    U201
    ⊃||8BU
    17-33L
    Pin 1 - 0.000V
    Pin 2 - 3.28V
    Pin 3 - 5.006V

I could not find datasheets for the VRs, as they seem to have unusual model numbers, I can take pictures of each regulator though my magnifying glass if anyone would like to see. I am of the impression that because a nice constant 5.3V is coming off the powersupply, that the issue must be with the mainboard.

Other than that the only information I can think to give is the monitors product number:
    FV585A

    and regulatory model number:
    HSTND-2571-T

All help is greatly appreicated. If I forgot anything please let me know, I will try my best to get you any desired information.

Re: HP 2159m - No signal issue

A little thing I over looked, for some reason there is a missing capacitor (C854) on the top right of the power supply board in my top veiw, bottom right in the bottom view attached. Looking at the traces, it went between the Gnd and VADJ (voltage adjust?) pins on the connector. Any ideas what it is for?

Also, I am about 99% sure I am the only person to have opened this display before, I did not notice a cap floating around in the case, and I did not notice any caps break off while I've been working.

Also, as the bottom veiw shows, there is solder on the holes where a the cap should be.

Decided I might as well attach an up-close picture of the traces near the conncector and missing capacitor.

There was nothing installed at that location from the factory, you can tell from the look of the pad, the holes are cover by solder from wave soldering.

The regulator voltage readings are correct.

Requesting Help For GA-970A-DS3 rev. 1.0, No Post code, no RSMRST# signal
          by AstutePauciloquent
Hi everyone, over the past few months i have taken a deep dive into motherboard diagnostics and I love the challenge. Currently im trying to learn all about the signals that travel around the motherboard, such as frequencies, enable signals High and Low logic states etc. And i have been learning to read and using the Schematics for this board that i requested here on Badcaps forum, from a few months ago, this is such a great place for these.

I’ve been working on a GA-970A-DS3 (rev. 1.0) that does not post. This motherboard has been my main learning board. I would like share...

Vizio M65Q7-H1 Red Vertical Strips fixed by tape blocking LC1 signal to half of the panel

          Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

          Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

Three 820-01700 32GB Logic Boards Same Issue: Won't Wake From Hibernate
          by ugamazing
I have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!

We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre...

          Hello guys!
I have a strange issue with my laptop keyboard and I'm lost trying to detect what's wrong - the KB9028Q-C or the keyboard itself.
It powers on OK and has no other issues except the following:
          • CAPS LOCK does not work at all
          • Fn button toggles Flight Mode
          • When I press 't' or '5', it produces 't5', and when I press 'y' or '6', it produces 'y6'
          • (with SHIFT pressed: 't%' and 'y^' respectively)
I initially thought it was a keyboard malfunction (internal short, etc.),
but when I press and hold...
