Samsung syncmaster 216BW
My syncmaster will turn on for a little bit then flicker then the screen will turn black but the power button will continue to be illuminated. I replaced 1 cap that was blown but it didn't help. Any suggestions?

When my syncmaster did that, I just replaced them all. It's a few dollars to do. You save nothing given the time to take it all apart and put it back together.
Search the site, there are several threads on re-capping the 216BW and 226BW's. -

Sometimes it will stay on for a couple hours but mostly like 15 seconds to 10 minutes.I have salvaged and fixed 18 TVs (1 DLP), 22 LCD monitors, 8 stereos, network stuff, and more laptops and computers than i can count.

I have replaced all of the caps. It will not shut off anymore but every once and a while it will flicker for about 10-30 minutes.I have salvaged and fixed 18 TVs (1 DLP), 22 LCD monitors, 8 stereos, network stuff, and more laptops and computers than i can count.

First thing is to check your soldering,making sure the joints are good,and you have not made 'bridges' etc to adjoining components.Comment

how would i know if a inverter transformer is bad

Fault on a inverter transformer doesnt come and go. What you can do is
resolder it - remove all the old solder and replace with leaded.
What make /series caps did you use to recap the board?
Sounds to me like it could be the lamps/wiring - when it is flashing can you hear anything
like arcing, Have you nay bulbs in anything you could substitute or another monitor you could try these bulbs with.
If neither how about making up some test lamps

Sounds to me like you have a bad ccfl (lamp), bad wiring, or a faulty inverter transformer. Check out retiredcaps guide on 2 seconds to black. Especially the section that deals with ccfls and inverter transformers and how to test them.

I picked up this TV that the prior owner said - just died.
Tested the fuse - burnt. A dead capacitor is visible too on the hot side (CP801). Got the replacement power board (cheaply - used). Replaced the board - the TV turned ON!
Now, about a month later (yesterday) I noticed the left side of the screen was flickering from time to time. That was already happening with the antenna input, not through HDMI.
Also, some glitchiness with a Fire stick on HDMI3 - I hit an app with quick dark screen in stick, the TV goes - no input. Then I had to choose the stick... -

I'm new here and was wondering whether you might be kind enough to give me some advice on troubleshooting the following problem:
Quite a few years ago now, a couple of years from new, my Samsung Syncmaster 740BF LCD monitor starting playing up by making a buzzing noise and then the display would go blank.
