    19" General touch monitor

I have a 19" General Touch monitor that does the 2 seconds then black thing.
The monitor only has 2 boards. An A/D-logic board and an inverter board.
I have replaced both boards with new ones and I still have 2 seconds then black.
Reading the sticky I'm not sure how to test the cfl's. The inverter board has 4 2 pin conectors. Do each of these power 1 lamp? Can all 4 of my lamps be bad?
Sorry if these are dumb questions, I have very little experience with LCD monitors.

Without a picture of the inverter board we can only guess.
Unlikely that all 4 are bad.
First test is to test one bulb at a time (that is remove the other 3 plugs) - it will probably only flash on then off. This test ONLY tells us if a bulb is broken or the wire snapped if there is no flash.

SWITCH THE MONITOR OFF WHEN PLUGGING IN/OUT

Having done that you need some sort of test lamp - either a spare bulb, old panel with some working bulbs or make a test bulb as Budms post in that sticky from a cfl

Removing 3 of the inverter connections and leaving one attached I don't seem to get any flash. Tried all 4, one at a time.
It I leave two on either end connected. I get the 2 seconds and black.
I guess part of my confusion is that after replacing both the a/d board and the inverter board and still having the 2 seconds then blank. I didn't think a cfl problem would do this.

Really need a picture - how many inverter transformers are there.

front and back (in the same orientation) (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) using the manage attachments button, which is found by clicking "go advanced" under quick reply.

Am I understanding that a single bad ccfl can cause the inverter board to shut down hence the 2 seconds then black.

If yiou try eack lamp connector one at time, each one should flash and goes off after 2-second due to protection circuits kick in, if one of the lamp does flash at all, then you can expect it to be bad wire or bad lamp.

So can you explain to me why I get no flash when I plug individual bulbs into the inverter board. I do get 2 seconds when I plug 2 bulbs in.

It can be that the screen has high contrast LCD panel, so when you look at the front of the panel you cannot tell if the one lamp actually flash on or not, you may have to do it in darken room, you can also make test lamps using old CFL or use you can use lamps from broken screen to verify the inverter board function.

I do know that the inverter and the a/d board are good (I think) because they are brand new exact replacements.

At this point you will have to use test lamps to verify for sure, or you will have to remove the lamp assemblies to inspect the lamps.

                          by trepachka
I am trying to convert a HP EliteBook 840 G7 notebook from a non-touch to a touchscreen. I purchased a complete touch LCD assembly with a screen/back cover/bezel/video cable and swapped it out with the original non-touch LCD assembly.
The screen works but the touch does not. I know the new LCD assembly is completely functional because we tried it on a similar touchscreen EliteBook 840 G7 and the touch works there.
I contacted the seller and he said screen conversion like this will not work due some difference in the motherboard for non-touch and touch capable EliteBook 840 G7.

                          Hello,
I have a question that's driving me a bit nuts recently.

Is the touch board on Surface Pro 4/5 somehow married to the motherboard? I have a few Surfaces that, after the touch board change, lost all touch functionality.

                          - I tried flashing the bios (simple ME clean from a known good bios, previous bios didn't have an intergrated hub enabled), reinstalling firmware, reinstalling windows and even new touch boards.
                          - In one instance, after I tried to troubleshoot by using a known good screen + touch pcb combo on a Surface that lost touch, the touch board...

                          Good evening, gentlemen.

I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

Looking through my repair pictures and notes, it's been a long time since I posted anything in the LCD monitors section. So here goes that.

I'm dedicating this thread to one of the very first LCD monitors I repaired (if not the first one), which was more than 10 years ago now. The monitor is a Wise Wing, model F199. It's a 19” CFL-backlit LCD. I got it for free off of Craigslist in 2009 from a guy, who said he bought it for cheap from Wallmart and the monitor worked only for a little less than 2 years before quitting.

When I saw the Craigslist post, I wasn't...
